"service check soon" light problem.
"service check soon" light problem.
i think its "service check soon" or "check service soon"... anyways, that light came on when i started the engine when right side intake wasnt connected... i know i was stupid to do that but car wasnt moving or anything. i just started the engine and shut it right off (i forgot intake wasnt connected). it happened when i was changing fog light bulb and when i tried to turn just the light it didnt work so i was worried i might have blown a fuse or toast the harness because i was using 7000k with 70w bulb when i shouldnt have gone that high. so, now i see "service check soon" light on and its not going away. i guess it came on when the CPU notice something was wrong with the engine but it should go away when CPU notice there isnt anymore problem. am i wrong?? i havnt tried disconnecting the battery for few second to restart the CPU. lmk, guys it'll be big help.
if there is a code, disconnecting the battery will only temporarily turn off the light. the light will come back on if something is awry.

Today, the same problem occured on mine. Mine is about 750miles. I checked the handbook, and the light would be solid if fuel cap is missing or not placed well. So I checked the cap, but there was no problem at all. I opened it and closed it several times to make sure, but I still have the problem. evilMonkey, did you find what happend? If you did, can you share your case?
My "Service Engine Soon" light came on when it was really hot and I had just filled with gas. I ran a code reader and the code was P0455 which indicates "EVAP emissions (large leak)". I checked the gas cap and it wasn't on tight. I reset the code and about three days later it came back on. I went to the dealer and he read a code of P0422 - EVAP emissions (small leak). He tightened the gas gap and the "Service Engine Soon" light has not come back. The dealer told me that after you fill with gas to be sure to turn the gas cap at least three times after it starts to click.
I have been following this procedure every time I fill up and have not seen the light since.
By the way, the gas pressure in the tank can vary from 6 to 15 PSI.

SRT = System Readiness Test
ECM = Engine Control Module i.e. the ecu or computer unit
DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code i.e. numerical code that tells the technician what is wrong with the car
today i took my g35 to the dealer to get the "service engine soon" light problem fix because i didnt want to mess around with it and wow... the "service engine soon" was on while i was driving to the dealer but as soon as i get to the dealer, it was GONE!!! WTF?!?!?!??!
when the "service engine soon" light was on my rpm didnt drop under 1100 and it had nice engine and muff. sound, almost like the older g35 but as soon as "service engine soon" light was gone... it went back to 07 g35 engine sound and rpm now drops to 900. i guess im glad its fixed but i sure missed the sound...
