Our dealer had the G37 launch last Thursday, and I had the opportunity to play with the new SoW setup.

I didn't get a chance to crank it up, with as many people were in the dealership... but I did see the new iPod interface. Whereas when I heard the annoucement that it would get this, and I didn't care. I'm now VERY jealous, and WOULD use it.

I figured it would be a half-arsed attempt to control the iPod, but it's the same menu system that the music box uses, complete with genre/artist/etc. I would REALLY use this as much as I drive.

Soooooooooo... here's where I am wondering if the `07 cars could ever see an adaptation of adding it in.

I can only guess it would be a reflash of the SoW hard drive to the new revision, and then it would look for the input connector. Has anyone ever taken apart the center console to see if the plug is potentially already there, but not taken advantage of?

I'm not wanting this bad enough to start ripping the car apart, but having the flexibilty to navigate through a collection of MP3s 'properly', than having one master list through the CF slot would be NICE! Anyone daring enough to tear their own car up?

 

A quick browse of '08 Coupe SM shows the iPod adapter interface as being a separate module behind the LCD screen. If kit is sold it would appear to be more than a flash and the cable.

There have been a couple other threads out here that state there is going to be a retro-fit for the 2007 (offered by Infinito directly).
