Compact flash card..

Noob question.

What is it for? The salesperson didn't really go through this before handing over the keys.

You can download your mp3 music from your computer to the compact flash card. Then use it in the car. Also if you burn a cd to your harddrive and the album and songs dont show up you can transfer the files from the harddrive to the compact flash card and install it into your computer. Run a program that is available on the infiniti.com site and find the cd information. Install the card back into your reader in the car and transfer the files to the harddrive so they will show up on the display.

Nope, it is for playing MP3s only, no recording to the hard drive.

Compact flash is simply the form factor in which your memory comes in. It's basically a small removable card that stores data.

Where can I buy a compact flash card, and how much does it cost? I thought the G came with one. Reading up on the manual.

Also, do I need to buy a specific program, do I need a USB cable?

You'll need a memory card reader, which connects to your PC via USB.

This is an example of what you need, but you can get them cheaper than that.

well, you only need it if you don't have a memory card reader built into your PC.

Does anyone use this feature?

My computer's cd burner doesn't work, and does not have a card reader, so I have to use this in the meantime. I bought the card reader and flash card but I think I bought a card reader that is only for photos. Is there a program like musicmatch, that will let me organize and transfer them to the memory card?

Once your CF card is in the memory card reader, it will show up in Windows Explorer as another drive. Once you see this, all you need to do is drag and drop whatever MP3s you want on the card.

EBay has 16GB CF cards for around $150...not bad considering they cost much more than that retail. 8GB on there for under $100 too.

That CF card would be worthless though since the G's system will only recognize the first 512 files. A 2GB card is the way to go.

Being fairly new to the CF card and iTunes, is there an easy way to get iTunes songs (m4A) to the CF card in MP3 format? iTunes wont let me burn protected songs to an MP3 cd, so I've been burning them to Audio CD's and ripping those back to my hard drive as MP3's using Music Match. Then I drag the files to my CF Card. It shouldn't be that much work to copy songs I've purchased
