i love my G, but at the end of the day the 335i beats the G35S in every performance category stock for stock. I do agree the looks of the new 3 series are hideous. I wouldn't trade my G for a bimmer anyways considering mods are wayyy cheaper and it wouldn't be hard to surpass the 335i. I also love having VLSD . The G is a smarter choice by far.

I got my G from miller two weeks ago too. Also work with David Marsh, but it was easy for him cause I put what I wanted threw edmunds and they got me the G35 with Prem for 500 less than Edmunds price. plus got the wheels lock for free.

Took a Test Drive Today - Update

Thanks to all for the helpful and encouraging words. As an update, since my OP, I had a chance to test drive the 335i and the TL Type S. My toughts on both below:

335i: Precise handling, hugs the road, yet a very compliant ride on the freeways/straightaways; powerful acceleration that starts fast and keeps going fast all the way up to the highway speeds; spartan interior leaves a lot to be desired; that leather just doesn't feel all that luxurious, although it may end up being the most durable; center dash needs a serious update; could be me, but the rearseat leg room seemed incredibly tight when front set was set to my driving position (and I'm only 5'7"...on a good day); exterior looks good from the front and front 3/4, but don't really enjoy the other angles (I think the taillights only look good on black models)

TL: Gorgous and, IMO, best-looking interior of the three (the red-trimmed guages and faux-carbon trim look great); handling is reliable, but not dynamic; very quiet, insulated ride which some people probably enjoy, but just doesn't seem in keeping with the Type-S spirit; obviously the slowest of the bunch, but still had plenty of power; exterior still looks good with the refresh (i.e. darkened light housing)

So, where does that leave me??? My ideal car would have combined the exterior of the G35, the interior of the Type S and the ride/handling of the 335i. But, we don't live in dreams, which means I have to pick one.

Ultimately, I feel my analysis in the OP was correct. The G's performance, while trailing the 335i, is close enough (but driving the 335i certainly was a treat and ended up narrowing the gap between the two). But I can't justify spending close to or more than $50K for an entry-level luxury sedan that my toddler probably will outgrow in a couple of years (I plan to buy, not lease). As for the TL, it just never felt like it was a true competitor (emphasis more on lux/comfort than sport). So, the G still wins (if not as handily as I originally thought).

Now comes the next step, choosing a color. I had narrowed down to DG, OB and BS. But wifey has basically nixed any more grey/silver cars, so DG is probably out, and since my current ride is black, I think we're going with BS (which wife has been pushing for anyway). If I could just convince her that we should go with the graphite interior.

BTW, we stopped by Miller Infiniti again today and saw that the 2008's indeed have arrived, as confirmed by some others in this forum (saw two PG's and one LS). Also saw an Athens Blue G37 on the lot. That color is bad-*** (reminds me of LeMans Blue on the M3's). Wish they made the 08 in that color.

Anyway, apologies for another long-winded post. But a couple more weeks of pricing/inventory research, and hopefully next time I post, I'll have pics to post of my new ride.

Thats precisely how I felt about the 335i when I test drove it...plus....test drive one with iDrive. It'll make your decision to go with the G a lot easier. They ought to have a class alone for how to use that stupid thing.

I never test drove the TL Type S though, I did not want another FWD vehicle so that was automatically out, besides, the TL is due out for a redesign shortly.

Best of luck in your purchase.

I test drove a ivory pearl sport sedan last week, and I love the feeling. The new sedan doesn't look that look on paper at first, but when I saw it face to face, it looks soooooo good and so much better looking than the 3-series sedan. I want to get a black on black non-sport, because I like the front bumper of the non-sport more, I don't know why.

I agree with the non-sport bumper as well. To me, the non-sport bumper continues the styling theme of the G.
