It seems like once you get pass the warning, the screen will display a map and there isn't a way to turn it off, at least I don't know how. And I'm not talking about switching to view the tracks for the cd or flash card as a way to turn it off. Don't really care if it's always on, but I was wondering if this is how it is.

 

I think you can set it to "off" in the settings menu - or just don't hit confirm on the warning screen.

 

Dim the display; the final setting is off.

 

Press the Status Button - it'll take away the map and just show you your radio and climate control info.

 

I think you mean the actual screen right? Or are you worried about big brother tracking you? Or what?

 

IIRC:

Settings --> Display --> Off.

 

Also (found this out today!) on the right side of the control panel are the brightness buttons (+/-). In between is the day/night display button. Press and hold - voila.
