keeping intelligent key in car, at all times?
So I am getting a g35 s next week. And I park my car in a garage, and have a gate around my house so I always leave my key's to all my car's in my car in the cup holder or something at all times, so I don't mis place them, and have to search for them. So my question is, would leaving my intelligent key in the car like kill the battery to the FOB? since its constantly receiving/sending a signal to the car to let the car know its ready to go or whatever? Hope this makes sense, and thanks in advance.

I don't know honestly, the manual says that the key has two modes passive mode and active mode (or something like that) and that active mode uses more power. If this is the case though, the more you drive the quicker your battery will die and that kinda sucks.

Hey thats wat they told me that it recharges the battery. and if you run out or battery wat do you do? get a new key?
THe slot recharges the battery in the key fab. Not even a week after i got my G, i had a problem with the fab not oprning the car. I completely forgot about the key inside and was like WTF, how do i get in. 5 minutes later i remembered the key, and stuck the fab in the slot, and WALA, the car started and the key fab was charged up/

First of all, the battery inside the key is a C2032 Lithium flat battery. These are NOT meant to be recharged. The way it works is that the battery in the key powers the transmitter in the key to "talk" to the proximity sensors all around the car. The slot is NOT a charger and basically acts as an active receiver by wirelessly reading the code programmed into the chip in the key (ever see those electronic keys you wave in front of the sensor to enter garages?). By putting the key in the slot it allows the car to actively find the key instead of the battery in the key telling the car where it is. Anyways on a side note, although there are no visible contacts for charging you can still charge things without having contacts. Ever see sonicare toothbrushes?
It's called induction charging where the primary coil is in the base and the secondary is in the device you're charging. However, that technology is not used in the i-key because the battery in there is NOT rechargeable. I don't know how these dealerships get the idea that the i-key is rechargeable. LOL why then would the manuals give instructions on how to replace the battery? LOL
