ok this is great that we have established that the key port does not recharge the i-key. But does anyone know if I can leave the i key in the car at all times (in cup holder or whatever) when it is parked in my garage, without draining the battery or anything else going wrong?

Sorry ckp, here's your answer:

It would appear that leaving your iKey in the car all the time will reduce the life expectancy of its battery.

RTFM: there is a book that came with your car. It's called the Owner's Manual.

I was simply trying to provide you with a source for future answers, I know I read though this digital manual long before my car was delivered.

Oh, sorry; missed that in the original post. A lot of owners apparently never bother to crack open the manual, and then post questions like, "How do I open the sunroof?" The pdf manual is great should you care to learn more about the car before taking delivery.
