I received an email from JD Power to do an extensive survey on the G35 Navigation, not sure if this went out to everyone. It was an excellent survey giving me the option to add lots of comments and it went into detail about what I liked/disliked and what I'd like to see, and had me rank some features... I'd love to see the results of this survey across brands... If you get this email I encourage you to take the survey, it was about 40 minutes in total time.

Overall I gave it an excellent score on everything except Voice recognition and I ripped them on the screen lockout, giving a 1 of "unacceptable" on a scale of 1-10. Hopefully they will listen. It did have a whole section of the survey asking about feel on it being a hazard, I think 10 specific questions on that.

FYI - it is called JD Power (there is no s, unlike the G35). This is a pet peeve of mine since I used to work there 8 years ago.

 

I got the survey also, and the "voice recognition" items likewise got my lowest ratings.

There were a number of questions about something they called "turn-by-turn navigation" that I answered thinking I had this because my nav voice tells me every turn I need to make - but then I kind of figured out it sounded like they were talking only about something like GM Onstar where apparently I think you make a phone call and a person talks you through your route? So I 'm still kind of confused as to whether this applies to the G35s nav or not?

 

yeah, that area was a little difficult, they mixed questions on that one part which I had to reread, originally I said I had it, but then I saw the i.e. GM onstar and I then said I didn't have it. Then other's were turn-by-turn directions with street name, i.e. "turn left on to North Main street in 700 feet" vs having only "turn left in 700 feet"

Some of the nice to haves were cool, like real-time gas prices at each station being fed into the system via XM service or being able to see user community ratings for restaurants. in that section of questions, it would be pretty cool to have some of those enhancements.
