I have had a 07 g35 journey with 5 speed auto for a few months now, and I find the auto tranny just fine. It has the manual shift mode so when you're taking turns fast it will not shift on you and put you in a ditch. I also live in socal and the auto is nice for traffic. I wouldn't buy a car withthis soft suspension and luxury interior without an auto.

Before this car I had a 06 evo mr modded to like 350awhp 6 speed manual. Now that is a car you want manual on. Stock for stock my previous car would take my current one into a back alley and just stomp it into the ground in every performance category. But this car is a differant type of car so I went for auto and I don't think you'll regret it.

Great choice!

I wish I was in your shoes right now...

Don't worry Shane. I've already made it very clear to my wife that it was a mistake. She's not happy but knows she doesn't have a choice. If she wants to drive it, she'll have to learn. Next car will be a 6MT. I just hope Infiniti comes out with its own uber-sport line like the M, AMG, IS-F, etc. etc.

If not.... hmmm maybe an RS4?

Does anyone know if Infiniti has plans or is developing a DSG type transmission? I am kind of surprise no other manufacturer has this considering that the VW group DSG is designed and built by BorgWarner.

I have been searching and I am thinking of the same thing. A dealer told me that only 10% of G35 sedans are 6mt. not sure if i should wait and see if that changes or get the 5at

Some people do love the MTs. You do need a manual for that traditional sports car experience, but I think my days of grinding gears are over. I had a '99 Camaro Z28 with a 6MT and as much fun as it was, I got real tired of shifting those gears in stop and go traffic.

Plus I like to eat and drink coffee while driving. Give me paddles with an automatic clutch or otherwise I'll stick with the auto.

Absolutely recommend waiting for the 6MT if that's what you want.

This isn't a debate about which one is better - it's about helping the kid make a huge mistake in "settling" for the car he doesn't want. Don't get sucked into a car just because it's on the dealers lot today! Show some discipline and reward yourself by waiting for the dream car you've always wanted

I originally wanted a 6MT, but it takes me an hour or longer to drive 12 miles to work in the mornings so I quickly crossed 6MT off the list.

DS mode works just as well (probably better) than I do in shifting during spirited driving. Plus the rev matching feature on the automatics is nice, I'd never bother to do that with a manual.

Yeah Speed, if it's any consolation, I'll let you drive my 6MT next time we get together.

Just got my snows mounted on my spare rims, so I'm ready for any snow we may get.
