YOU CAN BUY THESE PARTS- FOR AN 07 SEDAN
you can buy 3 factory nissan/infiniti parts (2 harnesses and an ipod module) that give you ipod throught the factory controls. it is a part that was originally made just for the nissans but it works on most infiniti's. i have an 07 sedan with xm and it works. kinda wierd to get used to the controls but after a few days no big deal. no steering wheel function except vol. You use the seek up and down as the up and down button functions and the tune **** as the enter button. You get all info on screen , only issue is you need to extend ipod cord unless you wanna leave it in trunk ,but you need to unplug ipod the get xm music since the ipod inteface interupts the xm. If you are going to extend ipod cable then my suggestion is to do as i did and put a switch on the yellow wire in the cable, then you just have to flip the switch to go from xm to ipod. this is the best solution i have found the the ipod issue for the 07 sedan.

hope this helps

part numbers are

ipod module 999u7-vr002-got from nissan dealer
harness 999u7-vs000-got from infiniti dealer
harness 999u7-vs001-got from infiniti dealer

Was the install hard to do? I think I remember reading that the harness is behind the back seat or some such thing.

When you are using the ipod, does the ipod info fill up your whole screen, or is other data still avialable?

Thanks

I'm a car audio installer so was pretty easy for me, not sure of your skill level? basically it was just plug/ play except for extending the ipod harness to front of car and then adding switch. info on screen is good. it is equivelant to xm info. it still displays radio as the source not ipod since you are using the xm input to interface. the main 2 lines of text are artist, song title then on the far left in the smaller text are ( where in xm it gives you the category name i believe) you get the ipod menu info.

after about 10 min u get used to how to contol it and then it is fine. only quirk is when u switch between ipod/xm give it a sec before u change song or preset, seems to get lost if u go to fast when switching between sources

Does your screen look something like this?

What I'm wondering is what other info can be displayed at the same time (i.e. time, temp, etc.) of if the ipod info is ALL you can see when it's engaged.

Thanks

do u have a fx or g? in the g it has the same layout as xm, you can do radio info only or you can split with ac and radio info, or radio/ac/fuel economy window in center. any other car im not sure but would think it would stay the same. the ipod part cannot change screen layout it just inputs info into same places there is allready text for other things that have to do with the radio/xm

Question for anyone:

Does the harness work with the base model vehicle, or does one HAVE to have premium (and xm) in order to use this device?

Does this interrupt the XM nav traffic info? I assume it does, but if it doesn't, I'd consider doing this.
