I felt pretty good about it at the time, but now after reading some of the posts, I'm starting to wonder if I should try to get them to sweeten the pot. Anyway here is my current offer. I'm supposed to finish conclude the deal and pick up the car tonight.

G35X Sport Liquid Platinum/Graphite Interior
=========
Premium
Nav
Sport
Splash Grds
Cargo Net
Clear Bra

Sell Price: $38,925.00
Less Trade In: -$13,500.00
7% NJ Tax: $ 1779.75
MV Fee: $ 7.50
Reg/Title Fee $ 351.00
Doc Fees: $ 197.00
Less Deposit: $ 500.00
========================
Sub Total: $27,760.25
Most of the deals in this area are at or close to Dealer's Invoice. Assuming that and $500 for the clear bra your Sell Price is over by $1,200.

Is the trade-in a good number?

The MSRP minus the Clear-Bra is $40,825.00

The Invoice (minus the Clear-Bra) is $37,245.00

So I'm about $1180.00 above invoice.

08 G35x with Premium Package

Just picked up an 08 g35x blue slate/graphite interior tuesday. With all the lease deals infiniti has going on couldnt resist taking them up on the offer for the 2yr lease on the g35x.

08 G35x premium package splash guards and trunk cargo net
Gross Cap Cost 34,636.89
Cap cost reduction 541.34
First month payment 399
Security Dep 0
Title fees registration fees (needed new plates ) 160
Tax on cap cost reduction 45.34
Sales tax paid in advance 801.99
Doc fee and NY State tire fee 57.50
Acquistion fee 595.00
Acq fee tax 49.83
Total 2650.00

Now i think thats a great deal out of pocket $2650.00 for the 08 g35x. My salesman also hooked it up with the price of the car about $192 over invoice.
I dont know if its against the rules in the forum to post where and from who i bought the car from but if anyone in the NYC area wants to know PM and ill give you the info.

Sorry if this is a duplicate post somewhere else, but I keep reading a lot about VPP and Costco pricing. From what i've read here in the forums and on Costco's site, Costco is easy, get a card from them, get a price.

Is Costco just working with a subset of VPP, or is VPP something completely different? I've looked up my employer and they are not VPP. Reading this post, it looks like anyone can get VPP, so how would I get entitled for VPP?

I'm heading to the dealers today and planning to buy something this week (by wed if possible).

you do not need VPP its not going to make a diff, just look up invoice prices and negotiate to no more than a couple hundred above invoice. If you finance or lease you should be able to get under or closer to invoice than that.

Depending on the VPP plan you have, you might be getting THOUSANDS under invoice. A lot of dealers give you a bunch of BS about VPP pricing, and then keep negotiating.

a real VPP price is UNEGOTIABLE, and will ALWAYS be UNDER INVOICE.

the VPP price is aquired from a dealer by picking a car, going into infiniti's system, giving it the VPP number and VIN of the chosen car, and the system spits out the price. They should be doing this right in front of you so that you can see everything going on.

If any of you have a VPP number, please, make sure you are getting the PROPER deal. A negotiated deal will never EVER beat a real VPP deal.

VPP A/B plans are for direct employees of NNA or direct family members. these will be THOUSANDS under invoice

VPP C/C plans are for indirect employees, and business associates. These are still under invoice, and will end up slightly over invoice after fees.

Costco and VPP have no relation whatsoever.

For those of you located in So-Cal, give me a holler and I'll see if I can qualify you for a VPP deal. I will blow ANY costco prices out of the water.

-Mike

It sounded like they assign the prices based on how long the car has been sitting on their lot, so if the combination you are looking for is one that they have on the lot I have a hunch you can get a decent price. You may be able to get them to quote you a price that you can then leverage with the local dealers. http://www.gunnauto.com/main/

Hope this helps... good luck!
Gunn Infiniti likes to ask way to high of a price. I have bought two infinitis and tried them twice. They were 2k over what Austin Infiniti sold to me for. Shealea at Austin Infiniti is awesome.

Seems like some people got invoice or below invoice price! With free maintaince and extra too. Hmmmm, I guess the price I got is just decent.

$37,500 out the door or $500 over the invoice I paid, with 1 free oil change and set of wheel locks.... 5.8% finance for 60 months. Got it the first week when 2008 arrived from Metro Infiniti.

I guess pricing depends also on how many other competing dealerships there are in the area, I got mine at Crossroads Infiniti in Raleigh, NC. Which was a pleasurable experience to say the least. They were the only infiniti dealership within a 100 mile radius I believe. Anyway this is what I negotiated for:

2008 G35 Journey 5AT Blue Slate/Graphite
Premium Package
Sports Package
Splash Guards
Cargo Net
Trunk Mat
Wheel Locks
3750 Mile Complimentary Service

$35900 OTD
Sales Tax: 3%
Doc Fees: $399
Title and Tags: $74
2.9% Financing for 63 months

Yea I did'nt get the premium package because I hardly ever used my moon roof in my previous car, and all those extras I could live without, plus I was working off a budget. I wish I could have waited a little longer, to get the finance specials, but I had to go through my own source.

@oughttoreturn

Actually according to the Edmunds TMV, the invoice for a G35 with the same options/accessories/color etc. as mine is $34236. With tax added on to that, its about $35263 + Doc fees of $399 + Title $74. So actually I paid about $164 above invoice, unless I added that wrong of course, haha. I forget if the Doc fees and titling are taxed as well.
