forgot to turn car off

it does beep but that day there were these people pressure washing the apartments and bleaching the decks so the generator was really loud and i couldn't hear anything...i should probably check the oil

A new car with a perfect cooling system would have no trouble idling for 6 hrs.
Nothing other than wasting gas - i checked this with a mechanic friend.

You know, the more I think about it, I'd say get your oil changed. That's the only thing I can think that might have been affected (and probably not), but it's a cheap security measure.

Correct. Prolonged idling means the engine is running at lower-than-optimal temperature. The cooler combustion temperature is insufficient to burn off the carbon particles, leading to carbon build up.

redline 1st, redline 2nd, redline 3rd, once you get to about 130mph, Its safe to say you have eliminated all buildup....

oh, and add about a third of a mile(i think, could be 3 miles, been a while since i've cared) for each hour idled to your odometer...

it's why newer police cars come with hour meters too, so a low mileage car doesn't seem so sweet after you see it has 25000 idle hours on it.
