Did I pay too much?!

I sign for a lease and now I'm wondering if I got cheated or is this buyers remorse?

Leased an 08 G35X with Nav, Prem, and dealer "options"

Sticker was $39,995...
Terms: 24 months
Mileage: 15K
Down Payment: $2500
Monthly Payment: $572.XX

Does something seem strange here?! Please let me know what you think!

You need read up on the basics of leasing (and buying !)
Lease is NO different from a buy when it comes to negotiating the car's price (aka cap cost) - your best interest in both lease and buy is to get that price to be as low as possible.
Also for a lease you need to find out the money factor and final cap cost - given those, you can calculate the payment yourself (just to make sure that there have been no hidden fees slipped into your payment schedule)

In any case, why bother now -- time to do your research is before signing the papers - for now go out and enjoy the car. Research before you sign your next lease

Max2k1 is right, you need to really understand leasing to not get "took" by the dealer.

I found www.leaseguide.com very informative and useful when I leased my G35 last spring. But don't recriminate, just drive and enjoy the cah (as we say in Bahstin).

Well -- the dealer could roll in any number of BS fees into the lease pymt -- things to look out for
-> doc fees (more than 50 is suspect)
-> Processing fees/bank fee etc etc

its easy to do in a lease since monthly payment increase would be small - even say 10 or 20 bucks a month would cover a lot of crap fees.
Hence the need to be careful and double check every lease calc to make sure it is accurate.

first off...a 2008 G35X w/ nav, premium and painted splash guards and cargo net (usual 'dealer options') is $39,475, so you have ~$500 in extra dealer options beyond the norm (unless this includes title/registration/processing fees)

second... its usually a bad idea to put money down on a lease. You should strive to negotiate this to $0 and determine payments after that.

third... here is a tool from edmunds. (click basic lease tab)

http://www.edmunds.com/apps/calc/CalculatorController

We would need to have the lease residual value and money factor more than anything.

Actually some or most states allow you to terminate the lease within a certain number of days.

like everyone else has said we can’t determine if it is good until we know all of the factors(ie: Money Factor, selling price, and whether taxes were included in the price or not).

Personally I would try to get out of that lease. You can lease a BMW 335i for about $530 a month.

I paid $3400 down, $400 month for G35x with Premium and XM for 12k miles, 39 month lease.

My father in law went to the same dealer a few months later to get the same deal, and the best they can do was $475 a month. It also depends on timing and supply, I obviously went at a better time than he did.

man, that's so much down on a lease. The payment is even kind of high sounding for only getting 12k miles a year over 39 months with that much down.

You got a good deal, but a 24 month lease is always going to result in a much higher payment as opposed to a 36 or 39 because of the depreciation curve. Plus, you only bought 12k mis. a year. The dealer may not have cut shuaiguy much of a break on the sticker, but the car is an '08 and maybe sales are good. You guys shouldn't necessarily say he got a bad deal.

You pay more for a 24 month lease, but good for someone who always wants to drive a new car.

is your monthly for the car only or does that include the taxes?

it seems a little high, but not crazy, 2 years is really short and your going to pay for the drive-off depriciation in 24 mo as opposed to 36 monoths.

your total payments are $16228 which is $8100/year. which is a few hundred high, but not insane.

I would doubt you could get a $40K car for under $500/mo on a 24mo lease. your talking about dollars not hundreds of dollars a month.

It's not too bad. Figure the $2500 down is saving you roughly $100 more per month.

$40k sticker, 2 year lease for $675 w/ 0 down sounds reasonable.

You're paying a slight premium cause you did a 24 month lease but being able to swap the car in two years is a nice luxury. I think you did pretty good. If you bought the car and wanted to sell it in two years I think you'd be worse off and be out of the pocket more over the two years.
