Anyone notice the hidden button in the glove compartment?

I was looking in my glove compartment yesterday and couldnt get it to shut because i have to much crap in there, anyways i noticed a little button in the corner that allows you to lock the trunk permanently. I think this is a good idea in case you have something in there you don't want vallet or the fuzz getting a hold of.

Anyone else seen it?

It's a good idea, but poorly executed due to the design of the ikey. I wanted to lock my notebook in the trunk during an oil change but the service department would not accept my key with out the metal key in it because they would have no where to attach their tag.

Salesguy explained to me that it was mainly for valet purposes. Lock trunk from glovebox and lock glovebox with key. Give valet key fob without the key.

I've been wondering about that recently (though not so much as to look in the manual).

My 04 has the valet key, but apparently the only thing it prevented you from doing was open the glove compartment. I know some cars have the trunk button in the glove box, but the button the the G35 is not in there.

Thanks.

your powers of persuasion are weak to get what you want.

have the service dept TAPE it or put it in an envelope.

i have yet to have a salesperson actually break down the workings of a vehicle upon purchase. (5 new ones so far)

they mostly just ask if know how to use the radio or seat adjustments. then they hand the final paper with all the key points checked....it normally doesnt bother me, but i just found the button in the glove box the other day when i put my ps2 in there. i could of used it a few times.

You're worried about your dealer's service department stealing your notebook during an oil change???

I meant my notebook computer, not a notepad and with the service I get in this city I am worried about the techs stealing from me. Then after that my car is sitting in their lot unattended.

That's a good idea, and I had thought about it but I was just to worn out to fight with them again. If I want to have my oil changed at the Infiniti dealership I need to book 3 weeks in advance then drop the car off at 8am and leave it all day.

This guy was great, showed me everything, set the seat for me. Very thorough.

Of course I HAD flown to Dallas to buy the car.
