I used to work for Maritz Research...Its all legit...They conduct surveys nationwide for dealerships and auto manufacturers...For example, when you get your car serviced, theyll ask how the service went and how you would rate the dealership...The dealership with most positive feedback is rewarded by the auto manufacturers with bonuses and other incentives...

In the industry such meetings are referred to as "focus groups" or auto clinics. I happen to be a market researcher and conduct surveys and focus groups all the time with various consumer segments. Its easy to recruit a group to talk about their cars or golf
BTW, i wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out that this forum is being monitored for research purposes. And if it is not - what a shame to ignor such a wealth of information from an informed group.

I received a similar offer half a year ago. The letter was addressed "Dear 2007 G35 Sedan Owner". It was for market research/focus group.
I went to this warehouse where I had to fill out a questionaire and rate many details (fit, finish, quality, impressions..etc) of a G35 sedan, a Lexus IS, an Acura TL, a BMW 3-series and an Audi A4. It was funny cuz all emblems on the cars were taped up. It wasn't like I couldn't tell what was what. haha
Although I have a G35, my answers were definitely not biased. Anyways, I received $125 cash for 2hrs of my time. Not bad!

That said, the monitoring is highly automated, and they likely extract far less value from this forum than is possible.

DAMN - and i LIVE in Pasadena.
I've done one of these before - pretty painless. They try to get a pretty broad group of people and ask questions like "Why did you buy this car over XYZ" "What kind of impression do you want to make with your car... sporty, luxury, etc." "How does the car make you feel" What kind of driver are you"
Here's your MONEY.
I also did a one-on-one interview for $150 for the FX. They asked if I would ever use a cruise control that works in stop and go traffic. uh... YES!
