So i was involved in an accident a couple days ago

A guy backed into the rear of my car . He f**ked up the rear bumper, shattered the rear taillight, and dented the rear fender. The total estimate on the work is a little under $1500. The idiot didnt have insurance (thats what i get for staying in redneck central) , a suspended drivers license, and the cops found weed in his car. The damn cops let him go too, they shouldve arrested his *** on the spot. Am I right?

But its just sucks that after 6 months, its already wrecked. The car will never be the same again

Isnt $1500 alot for just a rear bumper replacement and the outer tail light replacement?

Just ranting.

$1500 sounds about right. Do you have uninsured motorist coverage? That should cover the full cost of repairs w/o raising your rates.

that sounds right repairs on my car for replacing the front bumper + grill were a tad over 1k so add a tail light and you're at 1500.

I felt the same as you did, that she'd never be the same, be sure you look closely at how the car was before getting it repaired( if possible wit damage). . .mainly gapping and what not, when i got mine back i was like WTF! gaps werent like this before. . .. but I think that was just my mind, you'll get over it and move on like I have . . .take her to some twisties and you'll fall in love all over again,
good luck!

Sorry to hear that man. I know the feeling. Got rear ended last weekend myself with just 2900 miles on the car. Waiting for the other party's insurance to send me a check so I can bring to a body shop.

I'm really sorry to hear what happened. My roommate scraped my beater car while backing out her car yesterday....

Why are these things happening to everyone these day?????

Well, hope you get it fixed soon.

P.S. Repaire for our G35s are pretty darn expensive. Parts are outrageously pricy... Don't know why.

i got rear ended and they had to replace the bumper, exhaust, rear crumple rails, trunk floor and a few other things here and there and it ended up being nearly $7k in damages. If you have just the tail light, bumper cover (and no internal assembly components like crumple rails, trunk floor) count yourself lucky because you got off "cheap" .

thanks for the support

I do have uninsured motorist so Geico is covering all the costs at no charge but i just hope the paint does fade over time versus the OEM paint on the rest of the body. The shop I took it too has a lifetime warranty as long as i own the vehicle so thats a + for the repairs.

Geico put me in a ****ty Ford Focus so i cant wait to get back in the G. Ford truly makes a terrible car. **** is already falling apart with 9k miles on it.

If YOU have insurance, you're covered

If you have physical damage coverage on your car, aka "collision", then your company covers you (less the deductible) for any damage to your car. It does not matter if the other guy was uninsured. All that means is that YOUR company does not have another company it can go to for reimbursement.

Turn your claim in right away to your insurance company and they will take care of it.

That sounds just like the repairs being done on my car right now. They've estimated the damage at about $8,000 - $10,000.

I was "lucky", no body damage. Body damage would have been ugly and annoying (paint matching, etc) and cost alot more. Otherwise, externally, I only had the bumper cover damaged, and everything else was internal, except for the bumper cover and I guess the exhaust depending on how you count that . Oh yeah, and I was in a rental for about 2 1/2 months I think the rental bill to her insurance company was right around $2500. That totally sucked especially since my G was 12 days old (well I owned it for 12 days).

krazzyguju: Don't worry too much about the paint. The bumper is plastic of course, and paint fade and color setting on plastic is always different than metal. You'll likely never notice the difference unless you're car has some serious fade and given how old the '07 G is, I'm doubting it. You'll be fine.

Same thing for me, from the outside it barely looked like it had any damage, then you opened the trunk and it was a whole different story, the rental bill is at $1545 as of today.

Thanks, Thats what i was worried about.

It just sucks, Ive had my 97 Maxima for 10 years now and never once got into a wreck in it *knock on wood* and Ive had the G for less then 6 months and its wrecked already.

Oh well, there are worse things out there in the world to worry about then a car.
