I need to know how to control the car in a slide and get a feeling for how it corrects. So, I do it when there's no traffic, a nice wide road, and nothing to slide into in case it gets out of control.
FWIW, I'm VERY glad it has VDC and the VDC works great. Because without it, the car is VERY uncontrolled IMO.
My other car (for sale) is a 2002 Trans Am with 450hp. NO traction control, NO VDC or whatever, and the car is very easy to control in a slide (stock and modified).
I don't know why they two cars are so different, but when you punch the gas in the G35 around a turn, the rear wants to come completely around, in the Trans Am, you just keep on the gas, point the front tires where you want to go, and it'll correct itself easily.

Glad to hear you are ok and didn't hurt anyone in the process. Leave your VDC ON, it can save your life.

.. I hope they at learn something from it.
Why would you do this with the VDC off? The car is designed and intended to be run with the VDC on. I think it would be much more useful to you to know how it reacts and responds with the VDC on, since thats how you should be driving it.
If you get into a situation in normal driving, your VDC will be on, so knowing how the car reacts under those circumstances is what is important.

wow, i am hating this forum little more by the day. this guy dane comes on here just to vent and get some advice on what to do about his front bumper...instead of constructive criticism it's the usual BS from you immature dicks. "nice mod man" or "don't be stupid" or "wow, stay away from my children" or "glad you didn't kill someone"...why don't you ********* just not post crap like that and stfu. the guy made a mistake so shutup and quit sitting on your high horse.

That really sucks...

did you not read? he did it on a wet road. of course he is gonna get flak about it...its such a stupid irresponsible thing to do. he's lucky there were cops around, and hes lucky he didnt damage his suspension or anything else critical to the cars performance
If its 200-300 over your deductable you might just wanna pay it yourself
I say this for a couple reasons
1) your rates will surely rise. . .
2)fast car. . .you're bound to gun it here or there (of course under extreme caution and when as safe as possible-had to include that disclaimer for all you high horse riding, lecturing folk). . .
if you have a clean record your not going to worry as much
about getting a ticket as say already having this accident on your record
