Engine/Drivetrain Reliability

This is my first Nissan product, in the past I have had Hondas, Acuras and BMWs.

I like to engage in spirited driving, which occasionally means dipping into the tach, close to redline, every once in a while (in other words, not abusing the car but wide open throttle in every gear).

I have never had major engine/drivetrain problems with my prior cars, and they seemed to handle spirited driving well.

I'm not talking about taking this thing to the track, just having fun with spirited driving, not even drag racing.

I obviously never exceed redline but like to dip into the rev range...

I assume the engine/drivetrain are pretty robust and can handle such driving, right?

In other words, these cars can be driven a little on the hard side (but again not drag racing etc). with not a ton of problems, right?

The engine can handle it, my last two VQs were bulletproof. I wonder about Nissan trannies tho, the one in my Ma. Seemed a bit fragile. But, it worked fine for 65k miles.

I drove my 95 5-speed Maxima "spiritedly" for about 8 years and 140K miles; it was bullet proof, so I expect no less from my G35....

Thanks for the quick replies and reassuring words.

Also, I'm pretty picky, and almost NEVER rev above 4,000 rpms until the car is warmed up, etc...unless I absolutely have to to merge into traffic or something.

That's why I bought Japanese, especially a G35 made in Japan (not Tennesee) instead of a BMW....

I'm nerious about the transmission not the engine.

open your hood and on the passenger side by the strut there should be a silver plaque with your cars info on it!

i agree with g35now. my 97 max's vq never had any problems. the auto transmission started dying around 120k miles, which is pretty decent for autos.

All G35's are made in Tochigi, Japan.

IMO auto transmission fluid changes every 30k miles can't hurt.
