OEM Grille Chipping, Replacement option
I know this has been touched on in other threads but I had some new questions/ideas.
1) Everyone who is having there cheap chromed plastic grill chip call Infiniti Consumer Affairs at 1-800-662-6200 Prompt 7 and have your VIN ready. Tell them how disgusted you are that your $40K 'Luxury Sedan' inferior material, that you expected more, etc! Infiniti won't fix the problem unless there are a lot of complaints.
2) Even though they just replace the Grill with the same cheap plastic crap, do it anyways! It costs Infiniti money to replace the grills, if it costs them enough maybe they will design a metal grill to fix the problem.
3) Since I don't expect Infiniti will ever fix the problem. I like the OEM look of the grille. Would anyone besides me be interested in having a replacement grill fabricated? If you are interested, what would you be willing to pay for it? I am thinking of contacting some metal shops with a CNC Duplicator to see what they would charge. They should be able to use the stock grill as a template and carve a new one out of aluminum or something. Any ideas as to what the best metal for a grill should be stainless steel, aluminum, etc...?
I knew what to expect from Nissan/Infiniti with the paint. I don't know why there painting process sucks so bad, but it is what it is and I was prepared and put the clear bra on. But this grille is really pi$$ing me off.

My dealership won't replace mine...I had the service rep look at it months ago and they just said it was normal rock chipping. Ridiculous!
Oh well, I just got off the phone with Infiniti's Consumer Affairs and filed a complaint, don't think they could do much because the guy told me it's more or less done at the dealership's discretion to replace the grill.
I would be interested in an alloy replacement over this flakey cheap plastic one, if the price is in the ballpark of the other replacement grills (Impul...) on this forum.
