For stock it's good, but this is all relative. I used to own a highly modified WRX that was in the mid 11's. To me, it's got to throw your head back against the seat, lol. I test drove an auto 2007 G35, and yes it's faster for sure, but I don't consider it enough of a difference to really matter because I would end up going forced induction with either the DE or HR. The HR really is improved and better, but I guess once you've owned a faster car it seems kinda weird going backwards, like you have to do more to it.

 

I had a 460whp VW GTI 1.8t that'd outrun 600cc bikes... The G is still impressive to me.

yeah, even though it's a Z and it depends alot on track conditions and driver, of course, but it's still pretty quick

I know what you mean about going from faster car to the G, my old 240 put out more HP and alot more torque and weighed like 900lbs less...

My current "commuter" car is a C6 Corvette and I have had some 9 second toys.
So, I know what fast is.

With that being said,
the G35x will be my daily driver and I'm looking for a good balance of performance, looks and cost.

Even for a "commuter",
it seems that everyone agrees that the 2007 is worth the money over a 2006 for a G35x.

I would like to have found a 2005/2006 G35x for 16-18k,
but I will buy a 08 G35x if I don't find something this week.

I would have bought the used RS4 I was looking at,
but you can't get an auto and the fact that Audi's new car MSRP is $73k for a $50k (max) car is laughable to me.

It's a shame,
because the RS4 was the best solution I have ever found for a daily driver in cold/wet climates.
If the RS4 had an auto available and it's new MSRP was around $50k,
I would have bought a new RS4.

 

There should also be alot of great deals to be had on '07 G35x cars. I know my local dealer is advertising on the radio 'willing to deal' on 30 cars.

 

My friend had a '03 G35 and I drove it many times. From experience I can tell you that the difference is notable. The '03 felt lighter and agile in terms of quick response, but my '07 feels better weighted and has a tauter suspension (and mine is a base '07, versus his '03 which was Sport) and it is more stable at higher speeds. In acceleration, the last generation has even less chance against the '07. Also, automatic tranny in the new ones have upgraded dramatically especially when shifting near redline, where the older one seem to lag a couple of time before it shifted. '07s have better build quality and the interior looks cooler. If you can afford it, go for the newer versions ('07+).
