Auto windows down "feature"

So it finally happened...I knew it was gonna be one or the other, so I guess this one was the lesser of two evils. Hasn't rained in a month or two down here, so when it started pouring the other day, I thought "Thank God". Then I remembered that I had been at the office the other day with my "intelligent" key in my pocket, and when I left at the end of the day, my windows were rolled completely down. Of course my key was in my pocket all day this day too, and lo and behold, the windows were open again! What timing!

Luckily I pulled into the garage and grabbed a few towels to dry out. Haven't seen any real damage as a result yet (no musty smell or bleaching of the leather etc.). And luckily, like I said, this was the lesser of two evils...someone could have easily gotten into the car and stolen stuff from it, or worse yet, stolen the car itself.

Anyway, I don't see that the auto windows down is a desirable feature. I live in Atlanta, and even with our hot summers, there was no point at which I thought rolling down the windows as I walked up to the car would be a good idea. Does anyone know how to completely disable this annoyance? Obviously I try to keep my keys out of my pocket now, but the damn fob is too sensitive. (I've also set off the alarm while sitting at my desk with the keys in my pocket).

If anyone has a solution, I'd appreciate knowing how to kill this "feature"

PM KP Technologies, they have a few different mods and one of them is disabling this feature. Few topic searches will even give some reviews of them, and their website so you know where to go.

Explain it to me like I'm an idiot. What did having the key in your pocket all day have to do with the windows being rolled down?

Auto window down on the remote rocks. I live in Houston, and if the G is in the sun at midday, it gets HOT (even with tint) I roll down the windows on the way to the car, and the temp is at least 15 degrees lower when I get in . My windows have never come down accidentally - bad remote, or something pressing thebutton when you sit down?

If you hold the unlock button down it rolls down all four windows remotely. He had it in his pocket, and obviously somehow was sitting on it so it was depressing the unlock button.

I left my sunroof open in my Lexus and it started pouring and got REALLY wet inside. No damage, it's just water and not enough to cause any serious mold problems. Just park it in the garage with the windows open. Use a wet-dry vac on the carpet areas if possible.

How about taking the keys out of your pocket and putting them down on your desk?

Yea, I got that. But I can barely get the doors to unlock from my kitchen when the car is in the garage (like if I need to run out to get something out of the trunk). What kind of range does that thing have that he's sitting in his office at work and it's making the windows roll down?

Well I park my car in the parking lot and can see it from my office window. It's only maybe 15-20' from me if I park in the right spot. I try to park it in visibility of my office window. I guess it all depends on how far you park from your car, but my last three offices have had line of sight to my car. I suppose if you work in a downtown building with parking garages you wouldn't have that problem, but I work in standard, medium sized office complexes in Austin, TX and except when I worked at Dell and a large insurance company, I've always been able to see my car from my office (or previously cubes).

Supposedly if your battery or window switch harness was ever disconnected the auto-up feature will not work and will have to be reset. The auto-down feature will probably be affected as well. Try disconnecting the battery or window switch harness (the former is probably easier to get to), reconnect it, and see.

WHAT??!!!

Total BULL ****.
I've had more than 7 Infinitis and have NEVER seen this.
Are you SITTING on the remote?

With all the "" quote marks, I'd say you probably don't even own a G - and are sad that you don't.
GO AWAY! Lame troll.

The "intelligent" key works fine. And if you want to post crap - go on some other site...

Are you serious? Why would I make up this story? There are some weird folks on this forum...just because something never happened to you doesn't mean it can't happen.

I think the main problem is that I just keep too much crap in my pocket. It would be great if I could somehow integrate the intelligent key into my cell phone, and have one less thing to carry around. Anyone know how to extract just the piece that allows you to open and start the car...That's all I ever need.

And G-Whizzer, you need to relax man!

dealership can adjust this feature plus many others by simply using their consultIII ecu tool. disable/enable/customize...all kinds of options.

i found out when i took my car in for the keyfob recall that their new consult system links to the ecm via the bluetooth connection through their labtop. kinda cool.
