Help with purchase of a 08 g35s

Hi everyone, i wanted to get some help from people who have purchased a 08 G35s sedan.
The G that I'm interested in is a 08 Liquid Platinum/Graphite Leather G35 journey with the optional Sport Package priced at about $34.600.00. Do you think the dealer will go down to invoice and if so what would the invoice be?
I'm looking to put down about 20k and pay of the rest over 4-5 years, i want my monthly payments to be really low. I went to my local dealer and i guess they don't want me to purchase and instead they are pushing me to do a CLOSED END lease what ever that means.

Thank you
- Derek

Here's a plan

Mention nothing about financing, down payment, etc.

Get a bunch of internet quotes from surrounding dealers other than the one where you want to purchase the car.

Bring your best quote to your dealership of choice. Try negotiating first without mentioning the other quotes. If they can do better than the quotes in your pocket, then great. Otherwise, pull out your best quote and ask them to beat it otherwise you're going to drive to that other dealership and buy on the spot.

After the price is negotiated, then you negotiate any trade-in you might have. Then you tell them your down payment.

Check out fightingchance.com. I paid the $40 for all the info, and I was happy with it. My only complaint is that his PDF is an image of text, so I couldn't search it.

You can also get invoice pricing at edmunds.

carbuyingtips.com is also pretty informative (they clued me in to that other site), but I don't agree with everything there. I personally don't intend to walk in to a dealer and make an offer, since that sets the bar and the price can only go up from that point.

Also, a closed-end lease means that you do not assume financial responsibility for residual values. In open-end leases, you are responsible for paying any difference between the estimated lease-end value (the residual) and the actual market value at the end of the lease. Try this page for more info. The Web is your friend

what other options are there? 34.6 is actually a couple hundred bucks higher than MSRP of just a journey with sport package. Is that out the door, or just on the car itself?

Thats just on the car, i didn't mention the floor mats and the trunk net and other small stuff like that, thats why its at $34.600. The MSRP without the small options was around $34.400.

Since you're in SoCal, you will have no problem getting the car very close to or at invoice. In fact, I'm willing to bet you would be able to get it for below invoice if you really tried and waited till the end of the year.

Car sales are way down and, though the G35 is selling well, car dealers in general will bend over backwards to make a deal in this current environment.

Check out this thread to see what people are buying their Gs for:

BTW, if you are anywhere close to Santa Monica, I highly recommend working w/ Internet Sales Mgr Nichole at SM Infiniti. She was the most unpressuring, knowledgeable car sales person I've ever dealt with.

In the metro DC area, there are a ton of Infiniti dealerships around so it was easy to negotiate.

All I did was price my car on Edmunds.com and they have an option to get quotes from all the dealerships in the area. In no time I was receiving email quotes from various dealerships and they would also pitch to me their specific benefits of buying from them (free scheduled maintanence for x years...in some cases it was for as long as I owned the vehicle, free car detailing every year, lifetime powertrain warranty, etc etc). When someone gave me the lowest quote, I'd simply forward it over to the other dealerships simply asking them if they could beat the price. One dealership was smart and would not offer me a quote until I saw him in person, knowing I'd just use a quote to cross shop.....so I didn't even bother to deal with him.

It got to a point when other dealerships would just look at a quote and say "buy it from that guy, you're getting an amazing deal".

For my sport with every option but 4WAS, it was $37,797 OTD (about $36,700 negotiated price). This includes a lifetime powertrain warranty (as long as I have all my scheduled maintenance done at their dealership), and 4 years/75,000 miles free scheduled warranty (I notice a lot of Infiniti dealerships in my area offered this service to compete with BMW...since we also have a ton of BMW dealerships in the area).

I did not tell them how much I was willing to put down or whether I'd finance or lease until we sat down to do the final number crunching and document signing.

I did not trade in my old car so negotiating trade in value was not an issue for me.

Plus one to what AlterZgo said. This car can definitely be bought for under invoice. I paid about $300 under invoice a week ago, and probably could have knocked off another 2-300 if I waited until the end of the year.

Also second the recommendation that you give Nichole at Santa Monica Infiniti. She will deal with your fairly and politely.

35860 seems a good price for msrp at 39375... where you getting this msrp number from.. check edmunds to see what the invoice price for your car with those options.. and see how much over invoice u r paying or under. Thats the best gauge.. not how much under msrp but how much over invoice. Hope that helps.

check my post in the deals negotiated thread for 07+ and u will see

Invoice on edmunds is around $34,599. From what others are saying, you might be able to do better with year end coming up. GL
