Mass Air Flow or what he may be referring to is the actual Mass Air Flow Sensor.

What kind of damage are you talking about? Well, if it gets some of the excess oil from the air filters (K&N filters come oiled), there is a cleaner for it so it's not bad. Also, if it is physically damaged where you need to replace one, the dealer will charge you a pretty big chunk outta your wallet.

Since you can wash the filter you might be able to say its worth it, but personally I dont think its worth the trouble. At $70 I can buy 3 sets and guaranteed clean paper everytime without washing oiling and waiting for it to dry.

Great price otherwise if u're going for it.

gao said somehting about the filter oil damaging his MAF

I was just browsing and reading and found this about the rumor that K&N oil can harm the MAF sensor and K&N's pledge.

Wow... that's some marketing BS. Thumbs DOWN K&N.

Fortunately NONE of my cars which have gotten a K&N drop in OR K&N cone filter have had issues, but I have installed two K&N cone filters on 350Zs, and BOTH had oil build up on the MAF.

Well, I'm not engineer, but where in the hell else could have the oil come from?

You will NEVER feel the gains, you will NEVER hear a difference, but it IS a way to temporarily cure the mod bug.

To each there own but I dont know about marketing B.S. when they stand behind there product to pay repair bills if the dealer hassels you. Then go after the dealer.

Pledge Details
K&N warrants that a properly installed and maintained K&N product will not cause harm to any engine component and will not result in a warranty denial. We will promptly reimburse the consumer for the cost of the repair if a dealership denies warranty coverage as a result of a K&N product. In order to receive reimbursement, a consumer must provide the following:

1.

A written statement or repair order from the dealership in which the dealership blames the problem or warranty denial on a K&N product.
2.

A written request to the dealership to send the broken part directly to K&N at K&N’s expense. We will need the evidence.
3.

Your cooperation in helping us pursue our claim for reimbursement from the dealership.

K&N will then contact the dealership and insist they present evidence to support their allegation or reimburse K&N for the cost of the repair. We strive to exceed consumer expectations. Customer service can be reached at 1-800-858-3333.
I'm getting the filters for more of a cost saving over the life of the car than any type of performance gain mod.

I had k&n on my 05 maxima. The car did have a SLIGHTLY dif sound that stock, more that it was just breathing better.

To the people that keep saying there buying this filter for the cost benifits over the life of the car.

Correct me if im wrong, but a total savings after 5 full years comes out to about $85. Are yous serious? lol

So did anyone else get a call from them asking for an additional $15 due to a "mix up" with the part number?

I just got off phone with them. And yeah, they're asking for $15 more because of the "THEIR" mistake. Oh well, I cancelled my order.

Same here, cancelled mine also. Cost would not be justified.

Yeh, I told them I would call them back. Not sure if it's worth an extra 15 bucks for their "OOPS"
