I typically average 23-26.5 mpg on the highway according to the computer (resetting the gauge right before entering the hwy).

I also get around 7-13 mpg city as well.

Remembering that these numbers are just estimates by the computer, I don't exactly swear by them.

And definitely, it does lower your mpg if you have the engine idling.

After this, the AVERAGE gas mile goes down a good amount. I am assuming, because as you are idling, you are burning a SMALL but enough amount of fuel, although you are not traveling anywhere.

Therefore when the car is idling you are averaging, zero divided by that small amount of fuel. Therefore, zero of any number is zero.

I think the car averages in the zero miles per gallon when it is idling.

Try resetting your calculator before going for the drive.

My theory may be incorrect, but it makes sense, at least to me.
It is just a fact that this car gets bad gas mileage. It revs higher than similar cars. But that is so we can get more power. I am fine with that tradeoff.

Did you reset the computer when you bought it?

I bought mine with 72 miles on it, and the computer was reading an average of 11mpg!

Resetting it will filter out the effect of all of the super-lead-footed test drivers.

Just filled my new G35x up for the first time. 20.6 mpg according to my calculations, about 1 mpg higher than the computer reading (90% highway).

How long does the car's AT take to learn that you want to drive the car efficiently rather than WOT like the guy who put the first couple miles on it? A conservatively shifting AT should make for better gas mileage right? Does shifting at low revs with the Tiptronic help at all?

Nope, planning to do it next time I fill up the gas.

well i got my longest trip in my G underneath my belt. Only 180 miles from baton rouge, la to monroe, la. About 180 miles. I was fairly conservative. only got it to 130 a co uple times but other than that it was the usual cruise control around 75 and through the small towns it was DEFINITELY THE EXACT SPEED LIMITI!!! but anyway i ended up with 23.5 So I imagine if i was STRICTLY interstate and wasn't having to much fun I could swing 25+

Is this normal? I went in for a 3K oil change and asked someone at Santa Monica Infiniti why it was so low and he told me I have to wait until I get up to 10-15K mileage and then, once broken in, the mpg would increase.

However I spoke to a friend with the same car and he's had 21 mpg since he got his.

I was wondering if anyone else is having horrible mpg in their 07 G35 Sedan. What you guys think of this? Also, if you have a 07 G Sedan, post how many mpg your dash is currently showing.
Hey I have been having the same type of problem but worse, where on the screen it says i get 8-9 mpg in city and 15-16mpg on Highway. Went to the dealership where they couldnt find any problem. Did your situation improve ?

That's low even for a G - I drive in terrible conditions for mileage (back roads with lots of stops, lots of acceleration, etc.), and I average 14 - 15. Unless you're standing on it after EVERY stop, there's a problem.

Yeah I know, I went to the dealer to get the car inspected and all the tests showed OK. When I made the service guy drive my car he saw himself that sometimes I even get 7.7 mpg driving smoothly. They have no idea what to do or how to fix it. Just my luck.

I'm almost at one year exactly. Over last summer it held steady at 20.6. Once the weather got cooler it went up to 21.1. That's where it's been since. That's about 70% expressway, 30% city.
