I'm looking to purchase a sedan in the next couple of weeks and this was an option I was not planning on adding.

I would like some opinions on this option? Did you add it, if so, why, and what are the benefits.

I have this option and the perks i guess are better response in handling on the highway and less steering when turning..

Definitely worth getting. The car feels more solid and responsive. it is noticable. I highly recommend getting this option.

I added it because I liked the variable ratio steering which means less effort at slower speeds and greater precision at higher speeds.

I've done a few jerking moves on the highway to avoid road debris, and the system works as advertised, I went right around the tire scrap with great control.

If your spending 39K on a car, I'd suggest going for the extra $1500.

I wanted it, but there was no inventory with it in a 6MT when i got my car a year ago. I am happy without it because I occasionally like to go sideways.

No question, road course times are better with it.

Trust me, you can still go sideways It just has a little more fluid control to it

That is a good point, I think this is really an order only option, I doubt dealers will stock this in most areas.

I remember reading somewhere that this is the only vehicle in production with 4 wheel active steer. there is no one else. BMW's is on 2 wheel.

I remember hondas were the first ones to introduce this system back in the day i think on preludes but i cant think of any cars that come with it today...anyone?

Some early/mid 90's Nissans also offered it. They called it super HICAS steering or something like that. I think it was on the 300ZX.

I know absolutely nothing about the system but how good could it be if they are not using it on the GT-R.

Cool feature but not necessary. It doesn't work at lower speeds or something like that.

I had it on my 300ZX and it was more trouble then it was good. I ended up disabling HICAS on that car.

Just my opinion. I test drove one with it (an auto) and decided it wasn't necessary, and certainly not for the extra money they want for it.

It works very much at low speeds, the variable ratio is a constant adjustment as speed increases... see this pic:

Cool idea, but it doesn't seem like its worth the money for the option and added weight.

My understanding is it activates at 25 mph, which you may consider low, but I don't.

I'd be nice if it worked at 0 and was able to reduce the turning radius like some of the new pickups or monster trucks.

It does work at 0, see the chart. it doesn't start to change until 25. Your car's steering is at red line at 0 while the 4was is at the blue dot at 0-24, then goes variable and from from 180+ it's all the same as 180.
