Poll: ECU Reflash

Does it effect the performance or "tourqy" feel of the car. And for those AT drivers out there, when the car is put into DS mode or gear - How does that differ from before the reflash, and how does it compare to the normal D mode after the reflash.

I'm not getting my ECU reflashed unless it increases my throttle response....if you think the throttle is too touchy, learn to drive!

They obviously did the reflash for a reason. If it's too jumpy that's ok if you are a drag racer but not for normal commuting. This is not a race car. It feel like it the throttle has two modes, on and off. I'd like a little more ability to modulate the throttle based on how I'm driving. A jumping throttle in bumper to bumper traffic is not ideal. Adjusting the throttle will not make the engine less powerful, just let touchy.

I personally cant stand how UN touchy the throttle is, no reflash here. I hate the 2-3 inches I have to push before the car reacts. I drove an 06 recently, car moves at the slightest depression of the pedal. Why cant our cars do that? Any way to fix that? I hate the pedal response on this car, my only complaint. Needs to be more touchy.

Er, think that's the point. Our pedals are described as "touchy" because they don't react at first, then they over-react. First inch or whatever of travel does nothing, then it goes. The flash is supposed to make it linear.

That said, I probably won't do the reflash, doesn't particularly bother me.

With a good reflash like the Osiris, you'll be able to control everything from timing to fuel curve so you can change the way the motor responds depending on how the car is tuned. If you feel your car is too responsive in a certain RPM or not responsive enough, that can all be fixed with a live tune on a dyno. At least to a certain extent...

The car definitely isn't missing any power after the reflash.

You just have more precision/control over the throttle.

I definitely prefer control over nothing nothing nothing JERK. Now if I want to go faster, I push the pedal farther down. No biggie.

Throttle response is still fantastic. That didn't change. I just have the ability to give 1%, 5% 10% or whatever throttle. Before it's 0% 20% etc.

It doesn't take any longer for me to get to 20%, 50%, or 100% throttle than before. I just have the ability to ease into the throttle if I WANT to now.

The reflash addresses more than just the touchy throttle.
It fixes the downhill cruise control surges.
And it smooths out the upshifts.

Many misconceive that the flash may decrease the initial responsiveness of the throttle.
On the contrary.....the throttle remains very very responsive after the reflash...the acceleration is strong, constant and smooth rather than the "ON/OFF" touchy throttle tip-in.

Don't believe it?
Test drive an 08' G35 sedan.
Judge for yourself.

I suggest you get the reflash then.

The only reason you have to worry about the first 2 inches now is that you HAVE to be very careful with the touch gas pedal. If you breeze right past the first 2 inches and into the throttle..... wiplash... spilt coffee....etc.

With the reflash, you just put your foot on the gas and go. No more "being careful" with the first few inches.

If you're "unsure" about the reflash just go test drive an 08. I almost guarantee you'll like its throttle response better. Almost everyone seems to.

Maybe Im not being clear. I like the whiplash and in fact want it stronger. But my real concern is that the whiplash dosent hit until 2 inches in on the pedal. I want the acceleration to start the INSTANT i press the pedal 1 millimeter.

I know what you're saying. But I still think you should drive an 08 first, then decide.

If you want more wiplash, the reflash will give you better control over the launch/wiplash.

The problem with what you want (or think you want) is that it'd be impossible to use cruise control and very hard to cruise at speeds on your own smoothly.

More control is a good thing.

Yes good more control excellent. But the car still dosent react until the pedal is pressed in 2 inches right? Instead reacting more smoothly blah bla etc. But still dosent really react till that point right? I want that 2 inches gone.
