Does the ipod connector support video?

In the 08 I'm looking at there's the ipod connector and the RCA Video/L/R connectors, can anyone tell me whether a video ipod connected to the ipod connector can play video to the screen in the dash (when in park of course) or if it would have to play through the RCA connectors and be controlled by the ipod itself.

Chris.

No. Video only works through the aux input, not the iPod connector.

How would you get the video out of the ipod?

I have a new ipod nano and use a headphone to rca cable ($5 at radio shack) to get audio from the nano. I don't know if you can send video from an ipod to an external source.

I don't think the Nano has a video out option. But if it does, you can run it to the RCA jack inputs and it will play in the dash when the car is in park with the brake set.

Just got a iPod Touch and it connects into the jacks via composite cable (one with red, yellow, white connections). Made the mistake of picking up component cables. But it does play on the nav screen (when parked). Functionality is controlled via the iPod (with exception of volume since it's playing on the speakers). I imagine that any iPod with video would work. Nice thing is that I can unplug the yellow connection and my son can watch via the iPod in the back seat (with audio playing over the car's speakers).

The ipod uses a standard 3.5mm to RCA cable, the only "trick" is they mix up the colors. A standard cable like a camcorder uses should work but the colors are mixed up for the RCA's, alternatively you can buy the cable with the proper colors from Apple.

Yeah I use the A/V cables for video in my G, it comes in handy when I get to a meeting early or something and have time to kill.

the new Nano's with video can't output video through the 1/8" stereo jack like the original video Ipods. The video nanos can only output via the apple ipod data port.
