Angry Working VDC or not???

It seems that the VDC on my 07 G35 does not compensate enough at times. I just did a 180 on a snowy Michigan subdivision road and yes, the VDC is ON. I had other slippery instances but this was the worst.
I also have my 17" WinterSport tires and 125 lbs of weight in the trunk!

I had an 04 G35 and the VDC was very good although relatively violent feedback when triggered

Did anyone experience the same problem with the vehicle stability in snow and ice? Is the 07 tuned much differently than the 04?

I haven't encountered this at all. I don't think I could do a 180 on snowy roads if I tried.

the only time that i could imagine doing 180 even on icy roads is to carry some major speed with VDC on. If that was not the case, u should get VDC checked by the dealer.

i just said in a thread there is no way to do a 360 w/ vdc on. i'd imagine a 180 would be quit difficult and require some crazy circumstances unless it is fault. i'd get ti checked out ASAP.

i've noticed the S model's VDC seems to let you spin the tires a little bit more than the non-S model, but i didnt try too hard on the rental to spin them

i think it's possible to do a 180 with VDC on, b/c i almost slid around in DRY weather with VDC on but i let off the gas to correct it. So if i can probably get a 180 started w/ VDC on dry pavement than in the snow i can see it happening.

OK not quite 180 but close to it and I was coming out of my circular driveway at a reasonable speed. Granted there was a lot of packed snow/ice. We got over 10" of snow.

At times I feel that the VDC is OFF. I feel that the 6MT has looser calibration and allows a lot of wheel spin!

No matter what, I love driving that G!

S model is RWD it can spin with speed and relatively fast steering. It is all about timing. AWD can't do with that either. Unless you turn the VDC off. I tried the sport model to spin it before with VDC on and you can. Also it depends from your tires too. What kind of tire you have and what the thread wear is?

Also it can have some ice under the snow to do it for you.

Coming to think of it, this is the 4th winter season that I have used these tires. They were on my previous 04 G35.
The tread is good as I only used them for about 4000 miles/yr.
Is it possible that the rubber hardens over time? Very low temps?

dont forget that VDC only applies brakes and cuts gas. To straighten a fish tailing car, applying power to the front wheels helps too. Thats only so much RWD with snows can do if the tires aren't gripping.

yeah.. wierd but I've noticed that too. I normally only use blizzards and noticed the limitations come 3rd winter season.
