Thanks for the help guys! I'll work on throttle control some more, gonna try Bridgestone's RE01-R's pretty soon too I'll let you know how/if it changes. Don't think I'll go with a 4 - 6K launch while 'feathering' the clutch, I'd like to keep from replacing the clutch every year...
In response to an earlier reply concerning whether or not wheel hop occurs with VDC on - my experience is that only until the ECU senses the slippage then it backs off the throttle for you, wayyyy too much IMO, completely defeating the quick launch you were trying to attain.

I'm a little confused. How do you spin the tires w/o hop? I've tried dumping the clutch at different revs and always get severe hop. If you slip the clutch at a 5k, you are going to cause damage to the clutch, right? In other words, how do you do a burnout in these cars? I have an 07 coupe 6 mt with bolt on mods.

u have to get teh tire rpm up
if u spin the tires a little bit the tire will grab, stress the suspension which will compress, then the tire will break loose and the suspension will spring back, then the tire will grab again and it will happen again.
by getting the wheel rpm up the tire won't grab, it will spin.
pop ur clutch and hammer it, to the floor, and red line the bitch, ull get ur non hopping wheel spin.
if it starts to hop, stop and try again, u have to spin up the tires quick. if its already hopping and u hammer it more, it will hop more.
