Weird - shifted to DS and it still remained in drive!

I would have them check it out. That level is usually a good indicator of overall brake health. Obviously visual inspection is better since you could have one caliper that is stuck or wearing faster than another. I've heard of others replacing pads at that mileage.

Remember...each time VDC kicks in there is some braking going on as well. I could really smell the hot brakes a few days back when I was playing in the snow in an empty work parking lot with the G and VDC was kicking in. I was comparing with it on and off and knew to expect this. I have a little over 10K on my brakes and fluid level is down maybe 1/8-1/4 at most.

EDIT: Actually I just checked my brake fluid. It is still on over the maximum line. It looks like my brake pads are wearing nicely.
