Question Birds Eye versus Map View in Nav System Preferences

I have played around with both settings for the Nav system. I guess I am old fashion... I prefer the map (2-D) view since it seems to more closely follow the way I have found my way around using a paper map. The Birds Eye view (3-D) is more interesting to look at, especially with the 3-D icons and the sky on the horizon, but I have a hard time seeing the smaller-size roads and the names of roads popping up seem to be distracting.

Curious to what others think about the two formats and if there are advantages I am just not seeing yet?

It really is just a wow factor. Use to having it set on bird's eye though. The day/night thing in the sky really impresses people

i drive with birdview all the time because it helps me find where im going before i get there. i drive for a living because i appraise homes. i used to have the standard nav but wont go back for anything in the world. if your having a problem viewing streets you probably need to change the angle of the nav screen. i have it almost all the way down so the sky part is only showing alittle. it looks like the standard with a slight angle to it. go to your setting and try it out.

I keep in on the birdview. The day/night sky takes up screen real estate, so I changed the birdview angle so that the sky occupies a very small portion of the display. I think this give me more map and less sky, which I prefer.

map view, north up for me.
i find looking down at a map much more intuitive, having a fixed point of reference (north always up) works best for me.

Of course, that's just for me, different people, different brain wiring

Maybe I'm missing something, what 3-D are you referring to?

I use split screen. Birds eye 150 feet on the left, map view 1 mile on the right.

Perhaps "3-D" isn't the actual name... birds view, where you see sky over the horizon?

I reckon I have seen the option to split screens. I may try that today, just to see if it provides the best of both worlds. Thanks!

Split screen with Birdseye on the right at 1/2 mile scale and regular on the left at 300ft.

I do birdview but I changed the angle so it's more topical instead of behind the arrow. Kind of the best of both worlds.
