Lease - Warranty/Aftermarket Parts Questions

Hi all,

I'm sure this has been addressed in other threads but I wasn't able to find anything so I figured I'd post a new one.

I've been leasing my G35S 6MT for about a year now and I've had to refrain from modding it. Basically, I can't stand it anymore, so a couple of questions regarding how it might affect my warranty/service/etc.

I'm looking to get, at the very least, either the new Stillen intake or the JWT Pop Charger system. I'm wondering if this would have any affect on my warranty or service? If so how might I be affected during future services at my dealer or the day I turn the car in (if I don't buy it at the end)?

Also, if I were to get the intake, what would you guys suggest for install? I know the install is fairly simple, but I have little experience with bolt on modding. Is this something I could take to my dealer to have installed or some other shop?

Chances are that the dealer won't want to install the parts or if they do it will be ridiculously expensive... most dealers will either quote you $100 an hour for install or want you to buy the parts from them -- assuming that they have them -- and overcharge you both ways.

What most people do is have a fire sale a couple of months before you have to return the car... whether you're parting out because you're selling or returning a lease, you post and the vultures jump in and swap you out for their stock parts.

Most of the time you end up winning too because you swap for stock + cash.

Ya I actually have the Stillen intake sitting in my garage in a box and it's burning a hole in my soul!! .

I was planning on doing the install myself but I am a bit hesitant, although the instructions are quite nice. The only thing stopping me now is lack of knowledge/experience with how bolt on mods will affect my lease and warranty; and if I were to, god forbid, screw up the install, what would i do?

Any thoughts/comments are greatly appreciated!

You'll be fine with your warranty as long as your aftermarket part is not responsible for any warranty related issue. As for when your lease is up, simply put the stock system back on. If you are nervous about doing the install yourself, get someone to do it for you. If money really isn't an issue, take it to the dealer and them intall it.

I keep getting messed up on this - is the JWT system available for the 07+ sedan?

From my understanding the JWT is now available for G35/G37s. Some links below:
