Flickering cluster guage?

We're taking our G35 into a shop tomorrow to get the day time running lights installed, and I was bored as hell about 20min ago. So I went to look up the address and see if it was in the navigation. Well it was but while I was looking it up, I turned pushed the start button twice (to ACC). I had the radio on and while I was typing in the address the cluster started flickering and the radio stopped working. I immediately turned the car off and waited a couple min. Then I only pushed the start button once and looked for the address. I didn't have any flickering, so I went and pushed the start button again to go back to ACC and it started flickering again. I asked my dad about this and he said it was cause the car hasn't been driven for so long. It has been driven once since we got it for about 3 min around the block. Last time it was driven for atleast half a mile would probably be a month and a half ago. My dad said the problem was probably because the car hasn't been on and in use for a while so it will be like that. It should be ok once the car is started. I was wondering if any of you guys have ever experienced a problem similar to what I just experienced when storing your car for long periods of time.

thanks, Brendan

The battery probably lost some power so when your playing around with the radio without the car on, it kept cutting off.

When these cars first started coming out, a lot of people were getting dead batteries.
People would not start the car, but turn on the ignition so they could listen to the car's stereo and rip cd's into the hard-drive while waxing and stuff like that.
After a few hours... dead battery.

The Music Box/Navigation uses a ton of power and the battery cannot handle it alone.
If I'm doing something that takes more than a few seconds, I start the car first.
Being up in the "Great White North", I'd make habit of starting the car before ever playing with the Navi or Music Box options.

Alright thanks, I hope the battery will last long enough to get us to the shop to get the day time running lights installed and back

You sir have yourself a battery that is low on charge. You said that the vehicle has not been driven in amonth so obviously the battery has not been charged.

Get it replaced the car is under warranty.

What parts do you need to hook up you DRLs?

I have a G on order and will have to do the same to pass the inspection.

In early January I had an experience where my battery died after not running car for 8 days. G's Doors were locked while in my garage so not sure if that made a difference. Infiniti tested battery and alternator and said it checked out OK. Problem has not reoccurred but I will keep a trickle charger on it in the future when I am away for 5 days or more. I'll probably replace with a better battery later in the year.

Are you installing day time running light with HID? If so, estimated life on these bulbs are around 2000 hours. Replacement bulb are $50 to $100, ballast life is around 3000 hours.

To be honest I don't know what parts need to get hooked up when installing DRLs. It's just wiring apparently. I got a local shop thats a sponsor of another forum (local) to do it. They did it for $150 and infiniti wanted $700 here for a 1 and a half hour job .
