Vibration on steering wheel when brakes applied
Today I noticed that when I apply the brakes the steering wheels vibrates. Is this normal? if not, what causes it? It's an 07 journey sedan with 15k miles. Has any one else experienced this? Should I take it to the dealer to get checked out? Any help is appreciated.
you either need to cut or change out the rotor and pads. The vibration comes from highspeed braking on stock rotors and pads, the gases have no where to go. Time for some cross drilled and slotted rotors.
it sounds like your rotors are warped... You need your rotors resurfaced but since your car is covered under warranty it should be free, if not go to a local mechanic, they should be able to resurface them for like ~50 bucks per rotor...

However, I noticed something interesting a while back. Since the temperature dropped into the 30s, I checked my tire pressure and aired them back up to 34 cold. Then, a few days later, temps during the day rose back up into the high 60s (gotta love Houston...). This raised my tire pressure, as the tires were warmer - Discount Tire or Tire Rack has a good description on the pressure changes, but it was likely a few pounds.
Anyway, driving on the highway after that, hit the brakes and got a light humming / vibration. "Crap, rotors are going". But, on a different road, similar situation but no vibes. I finally figured out that some of our highways have ripples that usually aren't felt. However, when your tires are hard, and by hitting the brakes and thereby putting more car weight on the fronts, you can feel them.
No brake issues since reducing tire pressure back to normal.
Good luck!

However, unless it now defies physics, Nitrogen pressure will still increase due to ambient temperature and tire heat.
Vibration will get worse......!

that trues your rotors without removing them form the car. The actual
cause of this problem stems from two different issues, manufacturing process
when the rotors are not allowed to cool long enough. And one we can
actually do something about, never install wheels without usine a torq wrench
set at 85 LBS!
