Considering a '08 G35xS - how is the performance and handling?

I had an 02 WRX, which I loved dearly. I think a Legacy Spec B, had they actually put the STi plant and drivetrain in, would have been my first choice, but I now have an 07 G35 sedan with RWD. Even in this bitch of a winter, I do not miss the AWD. The car does great with good winter tires (I have Goodyear G3 Ultragrips), the VDC does a good job and makes it hard to break the back end loose. Have not got stuck once. For fun I have taken my hands off the wheel and punched the accelerator on icy roads but the VDC doesnt let the *** end slide out.
Conclusion - AWD is great for hooking rubber to road off the line on wet or dry pavement. Not a substitute for winter tires and not necessary for winter driving, at least in eastern MA. Adds weight and reduces mileage. Cops dont need it either, they still drive RWD Crown Vics and Chargers up here and that doesnt seem to reduce their revenue stream. Go figure.
