US and Middle Eastern G sedan (& coupe) comparison

I noticed that on Infiniti's Middle Eastern website, the G sedan is listed as having a 327hp motor. My initial reaction was "a VQ37 in a G sedan?! Then I noticed that the G37 is listed as having a 350hp motor.

Now I'm wondering....Do the Middle Eastern counterparts have the same motors as the US versions (VQ35 in sedan; VQ37 in coupe) and 1) have less stringent emission restrictions (thus tuned for more power) or 2) simply using the "exaggerated" hp ratings that were still in effect in the US several years ago?

Or do the Middle Eastern sedans and coupes both have a VQ37 and are simply tuned differently to arrive at the different HP numbers?

I could not find a picture of the sedan's tail on the website to verify whether the emblem says G35 or G37.

Another thing I noticed is that G sedan only has a 6800rpm redline and that there is no US sport bumper available.

Any G sedan owners in the Middle East, please provide insight!!

*I apologize if this topic has already been discussed.

There are at least 2 forum members in the middle east that have posted here. They are G35. The cars also feature other options ... side markers for sure and I believe front/rear parking sensors.

Different way of calculating HP is what I figured. However, I really wonder why redline is only 6800.

What's the redline on your 07 G? Should be the same engine in the middle eastern version, same redline I would think too.

VQ35 makes 306 here, 327 there
VQ37 makes 330 here, 350 there

Basically, they're optimistic by ~20HP in either case.

i'm guessing it's emissions. u.s. has strict emissions control so we have to add certain things to the cars here to restrict horsepower....not for faster car bombs

G35x
I believe it is the change in HP ratings. IMO if '06 HP standards were applied to '07 when it came out then it probably would've been rated 327HP here as well. '06 probably would be rated lower as well using the new HP standards. No hard evidence ...just speculation on my part.

Emissions, better gas, etc.

Oh, and they don't care about fuel economy?

^^ Oh I see, that's interesting. Keep in mind that the HR engine makes max HP at 6800 though, so maybe they're just boosting American drivers' egos by allowing them to rev past that?

It's rev play, and PEAK power isnt where you should be shifting. You want to maximize your powerband, and even with the power drop off, the engine still makes more power at 7300 RPM than at 6000 RPM.
