Picked out the 08 G this weekend

Well, picked everything out for my dad this weekend and he approved lol.

Start with the basic.

2008 G35X Sport (G35xS)-
-Liquid Platinum
-Graphite Leather
-5at, paddle shift, DS

Options-
-Premium Package
-Navigation Package

Optional (letting him decide) -
-Technology Package

Anyone else have this set up? pics?

Is the technology package really worth it? The cruise control thing would be nice, but its not essential lol.

Thanks everyone.

Not sure how useful the adaptive lights are but I think it is cool to watch the lights turn on the corners. The Preview Braking is a nice safety feature to have.

I have the exact same car. LP on graphite with premium and nav. I wanted the tech package but none of the dealers had one with tech and i didnt feel like ordering the car with tech package. It might be nice to have the adaptive headlights or the ICC but even without those options I love this car and would buy another one without tech package if i had to.

A G with the tech is just a little over 41 isnt it? Its not worth that extra grand? I guess if we find one, its all good. The lease payment is still gonna be less than our 04.

Tech worth it to me

I find the tech package worth it. As a certified old ffff... ellow, the swiveling headlights actually do help me see better around curves. It's not a huge difference, but it is a helpful one.

I have not yet been in situations where the ICC would be much use. However, the preview braking function and seat-belt pre-tensioning functions work when one is not using ICC, and I think they are important safety features. On Acura RL's those features add $3,800 to the cost of the vehicle and do NOT include the swiveling headlights (which are part of the RL's basic technology package). However, the $3,800 also includes a run-flat tire package, which, to me, is a disadvantage because of ride problems.

So, in a nutshell, if you're already going big bucks, add the tech package. I think you'll be more regretful if you don't than if you do.

Hope this helps.

^i guess it all comes down, if we FIND one with tech. My dad doesnt want to order the car, so he will look around the lot, find what he wants, if it has the tech package, thats great, if it doesnt, oh well...

It sure would be nice though.

For 08 the back up camera is part of the navi package now.

The adaptive cruise control is nice, but not worth $1000...adaptive headlamps are useless. I only use cruise control on rare occassions when I'm actually driving on the highway.

The ACC is subjective to where you drive i guess....for someone who is making long hauls its a very good item, for someone who isnt on a highway with open room i guess its not that worth it. The moving headlights are pretty cool, they move in the direction you are turning ,and light up the road that little extra bit more so you dont clip that guy crossing the street after you leave a party at someones house at 4am and ur hammered good scenario ehh.

WannabeSport,

My 07 G35S is fully loaded with all of the aforementioned options. Initially, the technology package was not a must have for me. But now that I do have it, I don't think I could get another car without it. The ICC is great. I use it quite often and find it to be far more useful than the standard cruise control. Also the adaptive headlights are very beneficial. You can really see the difference, especially on a dark curvy road. The rear-view camera was part of the Tech Package in 2007 (now it is included with the Navi Package). I also find this to to be very useful, especially when backing out of a tight space. And as one other person mentioned in a previous post, the Preview Braking is a great safety feature.

The downside is that is does push the MSRP up around $41K, but when you think about the amzing technology in this car, you realize that it is truly a bargain. When I bought my G, the dealer was not willing to negotiate very much (they did take off $1,500) since at the time a fully loaded G35S (my car also has 4-Wheel Active Steering, which is simply amazing!), was very hard to come by. But now, I am glad I got it when I did.

It's really a great car! Enjoy!

Regards,

Congrats! You're one lucky guy to get that car at your age.
