Agree 100%. When I paid off my first car (long long time ago) I kept up the monthly routeen, but instead of sending a check to the finance company, I made a deposit into my new car account. Suddenly I was earning interest rather than paying it. By the time I needed a new car, I had enough in the account to pay cash for it. Now I only take out a car loan if I can earn more interest than I am paying (like with the 1.9% Infiniti is currently offering).

Good incomes help, as does paying off debt as others have said. Gotta save!

well, it does help if ur still "young", not married and of course no kids, and have a decent job. . .i moved here to salt lake from NJ and Texas, and man, these mormons pop out these babies like its no tomorrow! i mean, they're my age and have 3 kids already! i'm not even thinking about marriage at all yet!

I like to save up money and buy. I don't like payments. I don't spend money at all. Of course it helps to have a great job.
