Scratch On Clear Bra!!!!!:-(

hey guys....so today i was at firestone getting a wheel alignment, and i JUST detailed my car so I know of the scratches on the front end of the car. Well after I got the car back from the alignment there was a scuff/scratch on the clearbra on the front right side of the car (fender) area (sorry dont have pics yet). So then I told the guy working there, this is what happened, he said they didnt do it (of course) and i am 100% positive it was them, and it was not there before I gave them the car. So i told the guy i will get an estimate to replace the clear-bra which I did, and its going to cost ($325). The guy said possibly they could pay half or something like that. What do you guys think I should do? push real hard for them to pay full? I think they should because they put the scratch there not me...right? Also who should I talk to should I call firestone national office or something like that? or the manager of that shop (who conveniently wasn't there when I asked for him. Hope you guys have some ideas, thanks in advance!

CP

Definitely get them to pay the full cost of the replacement. It was their careless mistake so you shouldn't have to come out of pocket to fix it. Firestone messed up on my Accord years ago and spoke to the manager of the shop and he took care of it.

But on the bright side, just be glad that it was the bra and not the paint.

They should have insurance for this kind of stuff anyway... especially a shop like Firestone.

hmmm. sucks about what happened. will your local dealer not replace your clear bra under warranty? mine has a lifetime warranty and i get all mine replaced at lease once a year, along with the little rubber strip under the doors.

Apparently when they were backing out my car, something on the passenger side had scratched my car all the way from the headlights to the taillights. And of course, they denied it at first but the manager was man enough to admit guilt. Hope you get yours resolved easily and quickly.

yah i hope so too. So did you just get an estimate and they cut you a check, and then like you took care of it? or did you pay upfront first, and then they re-payed you?

They told me to go get a few quotes and to give them copies and a check will be coming from their "main" office. I think they took the average of the 3 quotes that I gave them. It took them about 3-4 weeks for the check to come, but of course my car was already in the shop by then.

Believe it or not, I know a lot of folks who would blame someone else for their own stupid mistake. However, I will say that the shop offering to pay for half of cost to replace the clear bra seems to be a clear cut sign of guilt. Otherwise, why offer to pay for anything at all? I'd say push for them to pay for the whole thing as they seem to know that they were at fault by offering to pay for half.

good point. no you are right. there are a lot of people out there who will try to cheat others for something like this. am def not trying to do that, beacuse i can afford to pay it my self if i really wanted to fix it (assuming it was my fault) but since it was there fault they should have to pay. But ya if they are gonna pay half that means they are admitting guilt, thus they should pay it all. Thanks guys!

+1, If you are sure it was them who did the scrath, then they should be paying in full for it. Talk to the manager, im sure you will get it sorted out. GL
