Other Perks to negotiate at purchase

About to close on an 08 G35X.

Given I am using a VPP purchase, the price is achieved w/o alot of negotiation however I would like to try and have the dealer bundle in some additional 'stuff' at buy time.

Things such as spare key, winter mats, and maybe remote start installation. What other items would members suggest I try and bundle in ?

Maybe a free year or two of oil change.

what color are you getting, if black you have no choice but to ask for a clear bra, maybe some tints!

I bought through VPP and I kinda got the sense there isn't too much more leverage you have at the discounted price you receive. I was able to get free wheel locks and splashguards thrown in. But that was it.

Good luck with your purchase...

I got the first two years of scheduled maintenance thrown in. That included oil changes, tire rotations and the 15K service. I know others have gotten the dealer to throw in once a year detailing service.

damn i didnt get ANYTHING extra. I bought my car in Seattle area (Tacoma Fife) infiniti. I would have loved to get either tint or clearbra thrown in...and I was really trying to work the dealer hard to get extras but they would not budge.

I'm about to complete a VPP deal on a G35S this weekend as well so thanks for starting this thread. Reading your post does that mean my G35 won't come with a spare key fob?

You should get 2 (don't accept less). I am assuming that negotiating a spare means negotiating for a 3rd.

Makes sense, just wanted to make sure in case I needed to negotiate for the second one. Thanks!

Dumb question, but for those of you who negotiated schedule maintenance and such, how was it documented that it was included / free ?

Not a dumb question at all. I did my negotiating by e-mail. That way I had a firm price and the free extras already documented in writing before I arrived at the dealership. I printed the e-mails and carried them to the dealership with me, with the intention of asking the dealer to sign the e-mails confirming the free service.

However, the dealer already had a form ready for this purpose. It was a simple one page document that listed the services to be included and stated that they would be free, would be performed only at that dealership, could not be transferred to another owner, etc. Both the dealer and I signed it.

But don't assume your dealer will provide this. Be preapred to provide your own documentation if necessary.

VPP is a price negotiated with NNA, not the dealer.

there is no negotiating on a VPP price, as it is already an awesome deal.

Hell, I cant even purchase a car from my dealership for less than VPP...

NNA doesnt even give VPP to dealer employees =(

Just hung up w/dealer;
G35X at VPP ( lakeshore slate, wheat, tech, nav, premium, wood ,wheel locks, tire/wheel pkg)
I prefer the std wheels as I live in CT so he is cutting me a check for invoice cost of wheels ~ $325 and going to swap stock AWD wheels onto the car.

I also negotiated 3 years oil change and tire rotation; Winter mats, and a spare key fob. 1.9% financing for 36 months.

Very happy with the deal. Gonna snow 4-8" inches here tonight, gonna pick up car Monday afternoon.
