I know this is pathetic but I picked up some replacement inserts at the dealership and cant get the old inserts out of the wiper enclosure.

Anyone done this before - if so, can you please shed some light on how to do this?

I recommend you to go back to your dealer and ask them nicely if they will put them in for you.

I had mind done 2 weeks ago. The shop guy and the service manager spent just less than 10 minutes together to replace them for me. They commented on how much easier it would have been if they were the blades and not the inserts.

About $25 + tax for the pair.

I had the dealership do it but I watched. On the very end of the wiper blade, you simply peel up the rubber cover and they slipped out the insert instantly and slid in the replacement.

larry.k, I watched too! I think what you said here is correct, but it is not as simple as you think. I don't think I'd be able to do that myself.

The $25 + tax was only for the inserts...they were Nissan parts from Japan (for the Skyline V36 I am sure) but they didn't charge me labour. Better than going to buy replacements yourself then spend an afternoon figuring out how to replace them, that's for sure!

I bought the inserts and brought them home and then thought to myself that I may have to ask for help... changing a wiper blade. LOL

Pull the rubber end out of the way and the insert sides out. The tricky part is that it takes a little more force than you would think, but they do pull out.
They have a notched feel to them as they slide out.

The new blades have little clips on them to hold the metal guide bars in place. Do not remove them. They will slide off as the new blade insert is put into place.

The refills are "very" easy to replace.

Get a medium sized flat head screwdriver and insert them at where the arrows are on the blade. Push with a little bit of force toward the far side and it easily slides out.

i got quoted about $20 for both inserts so i decided to get some michelin arms from wally world. they're really smooth with no streaks/chattering/missed spots and they were about $16 altogether. plus they dealer did not have the inserts in stock.

Don't bother - I picked up the entire wiper assembly from Jason at Riverside (now Tony at Riverside, I guess) for about $15 per blade. Replacement was a snap (literally).

Thanks for all of the advice - it worked but I'm still not too impressed with their performance.

I'll probably switch to something else next time.

yo RSX go to pepboys and buy some rainx ones i believe its 16'' and 26'' they slide right on and you wont be disapointed...dont get the rounded ones they wont fit
