Wow, that really DOES suck man. Like said above, you may want to rethink where you're parking your car. Whenever I go food shopping I park at the very far side of the lot, next to an island & I hug the island w/ my drivers side tires....this way, there's only one car that might park next to me.
Good luck w/ the trunk.

OP, sorry to hear about your misfortune. If the scratches are not deep (meaning that if you move your finger over them and you don't feel anything) than you'll be able to get them removed via an abrassive polish. Once you post up a pic, we'll be able to see how bad they are and can make some more appropriate recommendations.

bull ****! Rubbing compound will destroy the clear coat on our paint and
you'll have major problem on your hands by creating more scratches. All
the scratch products on the market won't help either....wish they worked
better. Find a good detail guy in your area and have them machine buff the
scratches on your trunklid. That's the only real way to remove scratches
other than paint! Next time (hope it doesn't happen again) ask the person
for there drivers license and insurance.

This sucks.
If they're not too deep, Scratch-X and a lot of elbow grease will take them out.

Transition to Houston, where the roads are twice as wide, rules are enforced - and most people drive without paying much attention and/or following common sense. Sigh...
