Smile New take on Old Wheels...

Well... finally decided that enough Snow has disappeared here in Northern Japan to put my old wheels from my Stagea onto the new Skyline....

It was always a bit of a questionable endeavor because they are a bit taller than stock sizing and the offset is a bit shallower...

For those interested - Manaray Vertec VR-5 EXE Sportline 19 x 8.5 +35mm
Yokohama Map-i 245 / 45 x 19" 703mm vs. 675mm stock
No suspension Mods at all...

My thought process was - they are long paid for - with them being taller they may give me a little better ground clearance if I do put springs in the car - the taller tire gives an artificial lowered look because the fill the wheel well better - the size difference means the speedo is only 3.6% off at 100 km/h...

What do you think... All clearances are good - even with AWS...

Ground Level...

3/4 shot

OFFSETS are almost perfect - no spacers needed at all...

Wheel well coverages are much better... perfect shape and fill comparing the well to tire IMO...

These look pretty good. Although the offsets may appear almost perfect, once you drop the car, whenever you do, the wheels will tuck in quite a bit...

Thanks All...

Thanks all...

"Reminds me of the Lexus IS wheels"

Yes they really do resemble the IS wheels don't they...

"...once you drop the car, whenever you do, the wheels will tuck in quite a bit..."

For a full drop they would yes - but I would only ever do a mild drop or perhaps 1" Rr x 1.5" Fr..

I've picked up about 1 inch of ride height from the taller tires and if I dropped it what I gained in the tires I would be back to stock ride clearances - - Net gain "0" but still dropped a touch...

What difficulties is there re-aligning after 1 - 1.5" drop - do you need a kit or will it come back into spec???

After a 1" drop, you will most likely get everything back in spec. Once you pass that magic 1" and go onto drops of 1.5-2, everything can be put back into specs except camber. The front usually negatively cambers more than the rear. Although the insides of your tires will wear abnormally quick, you will notice an increase in handling with some neg camber.

Looks good-

If your in Japan, shouldn't your car be a Nissan Skyline, you even referenced it as such. You have the side markers too.

So, did you rebadge it with the US Infiniti badges????

it does look good. In my opinion, you should drop on some Impul(or JDM brand of your choice) springs and determine if you actually need any rim offset spacers.

Wouldn't that be something, US cars trying to get the JDM badging, and Japanese cars trying to get NA/GCC/EU Badging.

Yes - I am in Sapporo, Japan & it is a Skyline 250GT FOUR Type P...

I debadged the trunk lid completely ( smooth as a baby's backside ) and have only added the Infinity logo to the grill...

The factory Nissan grill emblem is god-aweful ugly - I refer to it as the Nissan Pumpkin logo and the Infinity "Fuji-san" logo is much nicer as well as the shape and mounting makes the front end of the car look much lower and wider...

Cheers,

That's exactly what goes on here - - Infiniti badging is all the rage...

It's quite the import business here... steering wheel covers, door sill plates, grill emblems, rear trunk lid emblems etc.., Infiniti and Lexus both and the odd Acura stuff floats around..

Cheers,

Higuma you should get hooked up with some guys here and do some swapping...I'm guessing many would be interested in a Skyline steering wheel, sills, etc.

Wheels look good though, and welcome to driver!
