HyperMiling Day and Night

the first day i got my car, i immediately had driven on the track 44miles with an average of 7mile per gallon!! which means all-too speedy @ 150MPH!!

When i finally reached low on the gas meter, finally i knew too well how fast this car eats 92octane fuel (@150mph), and how deeply gas is going to cost me, and how much interest i shared with other new ideas to save gas.

I know someone who is getting 41mpg on his pontiac which is the same engine as in the toyota fit and toyota corola...he told me some tips he found on edmunds.

heres the link.

Thanks kool_yaar. I understand what you mean. gas prices are up $4.00 but only for a while im making the effort to make the G35 beat the EPA rating:17city - 20avrg - 24hwy!

You went 150 mph on what track?

Thanks for the info, and good for you for being interested in higher mileage, and successfully trying it out. I find that whenever I think about the low mileage of my G, I can baby it up to 18 - 19 mpg (city). Then I remember why I bought it, and the mileage drops back to 15

And averaged 7 MPG on his first tank of gas. I don't think he followed the manufacturer's recommended break-in procedure!

I drove my car all highway at 70mph for the first 400 miles (its highly recommended to vary the RPM range during the so called "break in" and not do alot of highway driving where the RPM's stay constant) and then drove it like i stole it every mile there after (currently at 53k) and my car has never had one problem and has ran like a champ. I also switched to full synthetic oil after 2,000 miles (its not recommended until after 10k)

So the manufacturer recommended break-in can kiss my a$$!

I've been doing this off and on for almost a year now, to save a little on fuel.
I had no idea there was a name for this or that other people were as genius as I. Huh...
