Grinding noise...

Hello all.

I hear a grinding noise during moderate/hard acceleration when the car switches gears from 1st into 2nd; Sometimes from 2nd to 3rd depending on how hard I'm accelerating. I have an AT. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

I usually experience that hard shift into 3rd gear when driving in manual mode.

There are quite a few threads on this - the noise has also been called a rattle, or blowoff-valve sound. Normal, mine does it - the best explanation thus far is that it's a heat shield rattling, don't know if that's correct.
