Running on Ethanol?
I'm not sure about other states, but here in Cali I've yet to find a gas station that does not have at least 10% ethanol in it. So I have some questions:
Our G is rated as Low Emission Vehicle Tier II (LEV II), so is that based on pure petroleum fuel? Or did it take into account the ethanol mixture?
Second,
Can our cars run purely on ethanol?
Thanks for any feedback.

Im pretty sure you need a specified model that supports ethanol. I know chevy has those flexfuel vehicles now that can mix can+corn but you cant use just ethanol on a regular vehicle. Not sure about the other rating stuff
Many states have gasoline during certain times of the year that will be at least 10% ethanol. It is perfectly normal to run this in any car. You will probably see a slight degradation in fuel mileage using this mixture compare to pure gasoline mixtures.
To run something like E85, which is 85% fuel made from corn or other biofuels, you need a vehicle with an engine specifically designed for this such as GM's Flexfuel engines.
