Help with New Wheels Please!
Hey guys, its getting warm outside and I think its time to swap out the stock 17" wheels for some 18" ones.
I'm having a hard time picking out some wheels to get and had some questions.
What is the offset on our cars and what happens if you get a different offset? Discount tires has the offset at 40mm, will 43mm work? What about smaller offsets?
I'm choosing between these rims:
1# choice:
Boss Motorsport 318
Offset: 42mm
2#
Konig Stampede
3#
Konig Hotswap
4#
Borbet Type XL
5#
Rial Porto
On this car:
Let me know which wheels you like the best!
I'm a little partial to the Boss ones myself, though.

Out of those rims, I like the Stampedes the most. However, since you're sticking with only 18" rims, I'd avoid getting rims w/ a lip since it will make the rim look like 17s.
If budget is a concern, I'd recommend the Tenzo-R Type M or DC-5. They have a nice concave look with long spokes and no lip that will make the rim appear larger.
Look them up on their website. They're only about $270 each retail so you should be able to get them for much less:

If you like the Tenzos, I'd recommend 18x8.0 +25 if you plan on lowering the car or you can go 18x8.0 +37 if you're not lowering the car.
In terms of offsets, anywhere from +25 to +50 will fit depending on the width of the rim (8.0 to 9.0 inches) and how flush or tucked you want the rim to sit.
One thing to consider about budget - the only cheap wheels I've ever bought were some Axis rims. They looked great, but after a while, the finish started peeling off and then the rims cracked - twice. I've never had these kinds of issues with any of the other more reputable rims I've owned (BBS, Work, SSR, Enkei (yes - Enkei is one of the best rim mfgs in the world).
The other thing is, when it came time to sell my car, I always received a good price for my high quality used rims. For example, on my last car, I had a set of Work VS-SS rims which cost about $3,000 with tires ($2200 rims only). I was able to sell the rims with completely bald tires for $1500. So, after about 3 yrs, the rims retained close to 70% of their value.
If you tried to sell any of the above rims you posted used, even with only 2 yrs of depreciation, they'd probably be worth less than 50% of what you paid for them.

Theres also the rotation hassel with staggering... All in all he's getting rid of the car in about 2 yrs so staggering his wheel is not worth it... Just my .02 cent...
One thing why would you want to spend money on a new set of wheels and only go up one size??? I mean for a person on a budget the logical choice, for me at least, would be to research alot and go at least 2 sizes bigger if you going to swap at all...
But to answer you real question, im not feeling any of those wheels, they all have to much going on, it will take away from the cars natural beauty... You need a more simple less wild look, id go with a gunmatel or darker style, to make the red of your ride pop more...
