I dont know if that will work, but it is a tip in the 2003-2006 sedan section but it might help.

2008 G35 Journey Sedan no sunroof
I found that the 3-series sedan has more headroom with a sunroof (which is standard) but G has way more headroom without a sunroof... but those are hard to find, may have to special order.

The 3-series transmission tunnel is huge and eats into the width of the knee-room area. The inline engine pushes the transmission further into the interior versus a V engine.

Yeah, but said tunnel is already quite high in the G35, and wide too, but it's proportional to the size of the car, and the G35 is larger than the 3 series so you get a touch more room. Not much.

If I were you I would get the base G35 model. The non-sunroof models has much more headroom, quite a big difference. However you will sacrifice the bose system and powered steering wheel/instrument cluster.

I guess you want a base 6MT model... since it's sport model it can be too bouncy for the kids.

I'm 6'1" and if I could 'customize' my G35 I would have it the same but without the moonroof.

Agreed, you can special order a 6MT without a sunroof, and it'll give you an inch, inch and a half as i recall. I'm 6'2" 225 and fit without even the slightest issue, I have lots of room. Took 4 months to get my car though.
