He's buying in Michigan and will require service in Ontario. Warranty or not, many dealers here despise cross border shopping to the US. It, unfairly costs them and all of us up here in the long run. It's not the dealers fault that there is a $10K-$12K price difference. I also don't blame people up hear for wanting to import cars from the US, for that reason. Its tough for us to see your vehicles prices compared to ours when the dollars are at near par, give or take.

"Gotcha. BTW did you save much $. Do you think you will get any grief from a local dealership if you are needing warranty work done or are you planning to avoid them altogether?"

I have not finalized everything with regards to paying duty, excise tax and GST/PST yet, that will be done on Thursday when I import the car and take delivery. Details of my deal are posted in the 2008 negotiation deal thread if you want to know.

I figure I will save somewhere from 14 - 16K Canadian when it is all said and done. As for the dealerships they have to service your vehicle the warranty is valid throughout North America, it is well known that dealerships make the bulk of their profit through service, not sales.

The car should come out to 42-43K CAD after all taxes and DRL's are hooked up, the same car purchased at a Canadian dealership with the same options would of cost me almost 60K.
