Do our cars have a compass? I have no packages. no premium, no nav, nothing...

 

Compass is built into the auto-dimming mirror on the premium package

 

compass comes with premium package...but will be removed if you have Nav package

except if you have a G37...which is weird...unless my car got screwed up.

 

I think it actually varies based on year IIIRC? 07 you get it with premium even if you have Nav. 08 they took it out with Nav though I think?

To the OP...with no premium you don't have iit no matter what.

 

If you have NAV, the compass is on the NAV. I think this was intuitive thinking on the part of Infiniti. Why have a compass on the mirror and the NAV. My previous car had this set up and I always used to think this is so redundant, 2 things giving you the same info

Think so, or add the homelink mirror and compass.

 

on 07's with navi/prem, we have a compass on the rear view mirror AND navi screen. but i've noticed that the navi screen compass is wrong 90% of the time. the rear view mirror compass is always accurate, but the navi compass always seems to conflict. for example, the mirror compass will say NW while the navi compass 'points' toward NE. what's up with that?

 

On my 08, the Navi compass is good, the compass is accurate.

 

compass should be standard dammit!

 

I wish the 08 still had it in the rearview mirror. I know it seems redundant, but I'm not looking at the nav screen 90% of the time so it would be nice to have it on the mirror.

 

That's interesting. I never noticed that. I'll have to check it out today. I have an 07 and have both but didn't notice the conflict.

 

Yeah in mine its on both. Which is nice since I don't stare at the map whenever the car is on...only when I'm actually using the navi, even then I typically just have it up on the "Status" screen...I like seeing my song titles because I'm a loser.

 

I originally thought it was EITHER nav or compass

but i took a ride in a G37...and it had both.

 

yeah i like it on my rear view mirror.

if we are talkin about redundant, the analog clock in the middle while if you have the navi it displays the time as well?

i like having both so it doesnt bother me.

to OP. you can always buy those little globe compass and stick it on the dash =P
